The board of Trustees of the Corfe Mullen Sports Association shall consist of up to 4 persons elected annually at the AGM. The board of trustees shall consist of the Officers of the Association:- being The Chairman, The Secretary, The Treasurer and one nominated representative from the Town Council.

The Management Committee is responsible for the day to day running of The Association through its regular Association meetings. The Management Committee shall consist of:- All Trustees, One nominated representative from each of the main CMSA Member sporting groups and one representative of the District Council.

Section C Objectives and activities

The aims and objectives of The Association shall be:-

(a) To provide or assist in the provision of facilities in Corfe Mullen and surrounding areas, Summary of the in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure time occupation of objects of the individuals who have need of such facilities by reason of their youth, age infirmity or charity set out disability, financial hardship or social circumstances with the object of improving their in its governing conditions of document life.

(b) The promotion of community participation in Corfe Mullen and surrounding areas, in healthy recreation, in particular by the provision of facilities for the playing of sports.

Public Benefit in Relation to the Objects of the Charity. The CMSA exists with the main purpose of the provision of sporting and recreational facilities in Corfe Mullen, specifically the Pavilion Building, Cricket Pitches, Football Pitches and Tennis Courts at Corfe Mullen Recreation Ground. This provision is for the public benefit – specifically: local clubs, organisations, individuals, the local community and the wider general public. By this provision, and with the promotion of healthy participation in Sport and Recreation, the CMSA is providing public benefit by these aims and objectives of the Association. Runs / Maintains The Pavilion Building, Corfe Mullen Recreation Ground The CMSA continues to manage, run, promote and maintain the Pavilion Building at Corfe Summary of the Mullen Recreation Ground. The building provides kitchen / lounge facilities along with main activities changing rooms / showers and WC’s. The facility is available for all CMSA member undertaken for organisations, local community groups, local sports clubs and the general public. Current CMSA members include :- Corfe Mullen Cricket Club, Corfe Mullen Lawn Tennis Club, Corfe Mullen Junior Tennis Club, Corfe Mullen Utd Juniors FC, Corfe Mullen Utd FC and Canford Untied FC. The CMSA also offers provision for the local Pre-School, Mini Munchkins.

Supporting the Local Community and Other Charities The CMSA continues to support annual fund-raising events / other charitable organisations / Community groups / Schools / Sports Clubs by means of the provision of facilities and support with the organisation of fund-raising events, including the following annual events:- Corfe Mullen Carnival 5K / Junior Runs, The Dorset Bike Ride (in aid of Macmillan Cancer Research), CMCC / CMLTC End of Season / Finals days, CMU Jnrs FC Presentation Days. The CMSA also supports the local Middle School with Tennis provision provided by CMJTC. Grants / Donations The CMSA also considers grant / donation requests from local Sporting / Recreational / Community groups, in line with the aims and objectives. Previous grants / donations have included donations to :- CMU Jnrs FC for part funding of replacement goals, CMCC for part funding of an Astro / Artificial Wicket, CMLTC for replacement of aging Tennis nets,

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year

Sports / Facilities / Events The CMSA has seen an improving and successful year in fulfilling its aims / objectives to serve the local community by supporting and facilitating the sports and recreational facilities at Corfe Mullen Recreation Ground. Recovery from income losses caused by the COVID pandemic and subsequent lockdowns is now improving back to near normal income levels. The sporting facilities were again well used, primarily by the member Football, Cricket and Tennis clubs, all of which have good membership numbers themselves and have all seen relatively successful seasons for 2021 / 2022. The continued maintenance of the Pavilion Building and Sports facilities enables the continued use of the facilities by the local community and wider general public. Pavilion Refurbishment Projects The CMSA has continued to maintain and improve the Pavilion building. Following the completion of Pavilion Lounge / Kitchen Refurbishment Project in 2013, the CMSA has since replaced all the remaining windows in the Pavilion building for efficient UPVC units, funded a replacement boiler and improvements to the hot water supply / heating systems and funded improvements to the showers / changing rooms. These projects have enhanced and modernised the building for its users and has also proved to be more energy efficient than the previous out-dated systems. Support/Facility provision for the Local Community / Other Charity Events The CMSA has continued to support / provide facilities for the Local Community events / Other Charitable Organisations annual events over the last year including:- The Dorset Bike Ride (The Macmillan Cancer Research) - Corfe Mullen Utd Juniors FC Presentation Days - Corfe Mullen Cricket Club – End of Season - Corfe Mullen Lawn Tennis Club Finals Day Publicity The CMSA continues to promote its activities / facilities. The CMSA has a page on the CMTC website. A large notice-board at the entrance to the rec lists the CMSA member organisations / contact details.. CMSA Membership / Facility Users Numerous local sports clubs / organisations have opted to become / remain members of the Corfe Mullen Sports Association. Their membership / attendance of respective clubs’ representatives at CMSA meetings further supports the CMSA in fulfilling its aims and objectives. CMSA members for 2021 / 2022 were:- Corfe Mullen Lawn Tennis Club - Corfe Mullen Junior Tennis Club (serving the local community / schools with various sessions daily) - Corfe Mullen United Juniors Football Club (with over 300 junior players from U6 to U18s) - Corfe Mullen United Football Club (Mens) - Corfe Mullen Cricket Club – Offering membership to Adults and Juniors - Canford Untied Football Club. In addition to the above member clubs, the football facilities provided by the CMSA are also used by other football clubs as their regular training ground / home ground for league fixtures. Mini Munchkins Pre-School is also based at the Pavilion Building, offering Term-time child-care to under 5s and after school care for school-age children. Party Bookings, for Children’s parties, are also taken for Sunday afternoons throughout the year - offering the Lounge / Kitchen / WC facilities for such events. - Financial Management Income / Expenditure The CMSA has continued to efficiently manage the Charity finances in order to effectively deliver its Charitable aims and objectives.

Income is generated solely through membership fees (£35 per year membership) and facility hire charges (variable dependant on sport facility). The exception to this generated income is occasional grant funding, which is only received following successful specific grant funding application bids for identified projects mentioned above.

2021 – 2022 saw a slightly improved income / expenditure pattern for usual activities, following the income losses of 2020 / 2021 from the COVID Pandemic and respective lockdowns, which had resulted in the forced reduction of the Associations activities during that time.

Some expenditure rose slightly due to increases in maintenance costs, cleaning costs and increases charges from utility service providers.

The CMSA has a Reserves Policy (formerly adopted June 2013)

The ‘Reserves will be part of the charity's unrestricted income funds that will be freely available to spend / held in a releasable form.

Details of any funds materially in deficit

When considering the need for Reserves, the CMSA considered the following obligations:1) Leased Assets: The Pavilion Building / Tennis Courts and Insurances for both leased assets. 2) Risk assessment: Potential risks against each category of income and expenditure. Expenditure Risks – Leased assets – potentially costly to maintain. The majority of the ‘Reserves’ is to accommodate such associated expenditure risks. Income Risks – All income is generated by fees / charges levied on the sports facilities provided thus is subject to seasonal / annual variation.. Although The CMSA strives to ensure that all facilities are used to their maximum capacity, this cannot always be guaranteed. 3) Future activity level: Consideration as to the likely requirements on reserves, including the anticipated, and un-expected, expenditure for the upkeep / maintenance of the two leased assets. 4) Organisational commitments: including the upkeep and maintenance of two leased assets;- The Pavilion Building and the Hard-Standing (Tennis Courts) and the commitment to fulfil the aims and objectives of the association, as stipulated in the Association’s Governing Document / Constitution. When considering reserves, and when setting the level of said reserves, the Corfe Mullen Sports Association will annually review the income and expenditure received in the current and previous financial year, as well as the expected income and expenditure for both the current and future financial years. At each annual review, the Reserves will be increased, in order to continue to meet the obligations of the Association.
