In August 2023. the Gily of Jaranla descended into chaos follory Uasphemy al93t10n$ against Chri$lian brothers. Raja Amif Saleem and Rocky Saleem, from the predominanlly Chrislian Cinema Basti area.The brothers were ac¢used under $eclion8 295 8 and C ol Pakistan's penal code lor dlegedly de8ecretiNJ th¢ Quian and making dero9alory remarks oboul th Prophel Muhammad IPBUHI. Thes¢ aceusations sthly sparked Yt pr¢rte$ls, kading lo the targellin9 and destruction of 26 churches. including Sl John and Sl Pelef. as %*ll as nvmerovs Chnstian homes. Many Chrislian families were forced lo flee lor their lives, abandoning all their possessions to escape the es¢alabng wolence. The unr•st was further fu•lled by 4nnouncemenl$ from hxal mosqueg Condeming Christians, reylting in mobs selliThJ fire lo Christian homes and place ol worship. Despite efforts by law enIorment and rehgious kaders lo calm len5ions. many protestors demanded harsh punishments for the accused. As the deslrucbon Spad. more chwches. As the crisis continueil. we extended our efforts over several weeks, distfibuling food k)acWes lo displaced families had lost their homes and belongings.
