The team activity over the 12-month period covered by this report h35 Continued on Saturday nights whenever there has been è team available to include a pr8yer pastor &ither at the base of the House of Pr3yer or from home. The team has not been keeping accurate record5 of all of its activitlE5 however, from the Patrol Reports prtsdueed for each evening, the following ficur@s have been gleaned. The team has provided a vlsible, reassuring and supportive presence to users ol Barnstaple Town Centre on Saturday evenings whenover there hève been sufficient team members lin line with insurance requirementsl to operate. This will always include a dedicared prayer pastor either at base or praying from home. During the year, the team h35 Continued to use as its base ihe North Devon House of Prayer right in the centre ol Town, The timing of patro15 ha5 varied between 6pm and 2am on Sarurday evening depending upon the availablllty of team mÈmbÈr5. With earlier patro15, the team has encountered dlfferent groups of vulnerable people including younger peoplè along51dp those previously seen such as local rough sleepers. In the course of these encounters, thE team has provided practical sUPPOrt including food 3nd hor drinks as well a5 ernotional and spiritu81 help to those who they encounter. It ha5 been noticeable that whenever the teatn have been patrolling, the emotional and mental wellbeing 155ues that they have encountered have been signiflcaTrt and their support greatly appreciated. The team uses variou5 Item5 of literature to give away for those that feel they would like ongoing spirltu31 support including business cards to sign post individuals to the North Devon House of Prayer during the week. Patrols normally last lor around 4 hours and before ending patrols on any given night, BSPS wlll determine whether there is a need to continue patrolling dependin8 on the number ol people on the street, the presence of particular community tènsions and any incidents we may be de81ing with. Whilst out on patrol the team work In partnership with the on-duty CCTV operator using digital radios and door staff at the different licensed premises. The size of the team has remained about the samÈ For the year. 4 individuals were tralned in March 2024 with one mmencing patro15 and one progressing towards that. We have seen a small number of others joining to support the ream as prayer pa5tor5. At the same time othèr pastors have continued to struggle with health issues meatFing that. it has nDt been p055ible to provide patrols every weekend. As well a5 ernail, a team WhatsApp group was created to enable rnembers to communicate their availabllity on ? week-to-week basis. In addition to Saturd3y patrols. team members also tneet once a month for 3 breakfast as a way of supporting each other and keeping connected. The management team has tnet on three occasions wlthin thè perlod covered by this report to ensure proper oversight ènd manaBement of the team'5 operations. As a group* 8SP5 became members of the newly restarted Churche5 Together in Barnstaple in SÈprember 2023. This whole ministry can only be made possible and succe55ful by the glory of God and we continually glve our thanks and praise to Him. Volunteers The ch4rity is grateful for the volunteers who help in the organisation and runrEing of its prayer and patrol teams.
