Our approach places the audience right at the heart of thè action, immersing them in the wortd of the play, thereby demysttfying the legend that Shakèspeare is for an elite, educated few but rather is immediate and a¢cessible to everyone. At GSC we use diverse and unusual non-theatre venues to create dynamic and challenging productions. From casles lo lakes, churches b pubs, our approach merges thè aLtdience and acting space so that yDU're giveri a visceral. stimulating and, above all, unique theatre experience. GSC produclons are fresh, fast and modem in their interpretation of Shakespeare, but always in thè original text and never dumbed down. Making the arts, and more specffically theatre and Shakespeare, accessible to a wider community, is key to the work that we do and reaching socially isolated members of our community wth especially tailored programmes of work, drawSng on the skill base of especialty selected practitioners and experts. Creating theatre that is relevant and making productions of Shakespeare that arè rèflective of our times is a core aim, and this year's production of Richard11 did that. choosing the tale of an ineffectual, corrupt politi(31 leaderwho was morÈ interested in ego and parties gave us the opportunty to reflect on Jnodem politics.
