UKHF HAS MAINTAINED A NON-DISCRIMINATORY POLICY AND ADHERENCE TO THE UNIVEFISAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS IS PART OF OUR MOU AGREEMENT WITH HFOC. TO THIS END WE HAVE AVOIDED FUNDING FROM RELIGIOUS ORGANISATIONS. You may choose to include further statements, where relevant, about= policy on grantmaking- policy programme related investment., contribution made by volunteers. WE ARE PROUD OF THE CONTINUING SUPPORT OF GUARDIANS AND THE LOCAL COMMUNITY. OUR TRUSTEES ARE VOLUNTEERS. AS ARE OUR BOOKKEEPERS. OUR ADMINISTRATOR AND TREASURER IS THE ONLY OFFICER PAID FOR SERVICES. THIS IS MADE POSSIBLE THROUGH GIFT AID OBTAINED FROM DONATIONS. SECTION D ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE. THE HFOC TEACHERS CONTINUE THEIR WONDERFUL WORK AND ACHIEVE HIGH STANDARDS FOR THE SCHOOL. THE PLE NATIONAL RESULTS WERE THE HIGHEST IN THE DISTRICT WITH THE MAJORITY OF ST HEALING FOCUS SCHOOL STUDENTS SCORING 1 GRADE IN SCIENCE, ENGLISH. SOCIAL STUDIES AND MATHEMATICS. THE EXAMS DUE TO BE SAT BY THE P7 STUDENTS AT THE END OF 2020 WERE POSTPONED DUE TO COVID. DESPITE HARDSHIPS, THE GUARDIANS REMAIN LOYAL TO THE SCHOOL AND THE CHILDREN. THEY SUPPORT THE SCHOOL WITH FOOD DONATIONS WHERE POSSIBLE. THE SCHOOL GARDEN WAS ONCE AGAIN PREPARED AHEAD OF THE RAINY SEASON TO ENSURE A HEALTHY CROP OF MAIZE, CASSAVA, AND SUKUMAWIKI (GREENS) TO HELP SUSTAIN FOOD SECURITY. REDUCE PURCHASE COSTS AND SUPPLEMENT THE PUPILS, DIET. THIS WAS MORE IMPORTANT THAN EVER AS WHEN COVID CAUSED A LOCK DOWN IN UGANDA MANY OF THE STUDENTS WERE STILL COMING TO THE SCHOOL FOR A MEAL. ESTHER BAGOOLE CONTINUES TO ORGANISE GIRLS WORKSHOPS AT THE SCHOOL WITH FEMLEAD. DUE TO UKHF'S RESTRICTED FINANCIAL SIUATION, THE TRUSTEES VOTED THAT THEY COULD NO LONGER BE ABLE TO FUND THE GIRLS, WORKSHOPS AT THE SCHOOL AND INFORMED FEMLEAD. THE WORKSHOPS ARE NOW COVERED SOLELY BY FEMLEAD. THE FREQUENCY OF THE WORKSHOPS WAS LESS THIS YEAR DUE TO DISRUPTIONS CAUSED BY COVID, HOWEVER ESTHER HAS CONTINUED TO BE PRESENT DUE TO THE INCREASE OF PREGANCIES AND ISEXUALI ABUSE CAUSED BY THE LOCKDOWN. SINCE TOM BAGOOLE'S DEPARTURE IN NOVEMBER 2018, UKHF WORKED TOGETHER WITH ESTHER BAGOOLE TO STRUCTURE A NEW MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR THE SCHOOL. A NEW BOARD IN UGANDA WAS APPOINTED AND THEY VISITED THE SCHOOL TO FULLY UNDERSTAND ITS STRENGTHS AND POSSIBILITIES FOR GROWTH. THE BOARD AIMS TO VISIT THE SCHOOL AGAIN ONCE THE GOVERNMENT ALLOWS MORE MOVEMENT IN UGANDA. TAR September 2021
UKHF TRUSTEES AND MEMBERS OF THE HFOC BOARD HELD AN ONLINE MEETING IN NOVEMBER. THIS WAS TO INTRODUCE THE NEW MEMBERS TO THE TRUSTEES AND TO AGREE ON A STRATEGY GOING FORWARD TO ENHANCE SUSTAINABILITY AND FINANCIAL INDEPENDENCE. A NEW BOOKKEEPER WAS APPOINTED AT THE SCHOOL IN NOVEMBER. AS THE SCHOOL'S INTERIM DIRECTOR, ESTHER CONTINUES TO FULFILL HER DUTIES IMPECABLY. UKHF WAS HAPPY TO BE ABLE TO FULFILL ITS OBLIGATION TO COVER THE FEES AND EXTRA COSTS FOR THE 10 STUDENTS CONTINUING THEIR SECONDARY SCHOOL EDUCATION AT BUSIIRO SECONDARY SCHOOL. UKHF FUNDED 70/0 OF THE BUILDING OF NEW LATRINES AT THE SCHOOL AFTER THE ORIGINAL ONES COLLAPSED AFTER VERY HEAVY RAINSTORMS. THE HFOC BOARD COVERED THE REMAINING 30QA. THE TREVOR CATCHPOLE FOUNDATION FUNDED THE INSTALLATION OF NEW GUTTERING ON TWO CLASSROOM BUILDINGS AND THE PURCHASE OF WATER TANKS. THEY ALSO FUNDED THE INSTALATION OF TWO THUNDER ARRESTORS AND AN ENERGY SAVING STOVE. THERE WERE NO FUNDRAISING EVENTS IN 2020 DUE TO COVID RESTRICTIONS. LUCKILY WE WERE ABLE TO HOLD ON TO OUR REGULAR DONORS, WHICH ALLOWED US TO CONTINUE CONTRIBUTING TO THE RUNNING COSTS OF THE SCHOOL. IN DECEMBER, WE WERE INFORMED THAT HFOC COULD NO LONGER CONTRIBUTE TO THE RUNNING COSTS OF THE SCHOOL DUE TO LACK OF FUNDS. UKHF IS, THEREFORE, THE SOLE FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTOR KEEPING THE SCHOOL OPEN, MAKING SURE THE TEACHERS, SALARIES ARE PAID ON TIME AND THE CHILDREN FED AND CARED FOR. NO TRUSTEES HAVE STEPPED DOWN THIS YEAR. THE COMMITMENT FROM ALL TRUSTEES REMAINS HIGH AND INSPIRING. UKHF'S FOCUS HAS HAD TO BECOME TEMPORARILY LESS PROJECT-BASED AS, DUE TO COVID, MOST OF THESE DEVELOPMENTS HAVE COME TO A HALT. BOTH INTERNATIONALLY AND IN UGANDA SUPPORT IS HARD TO FIND AS PEOPLE ARE STRUGGLING THEMSELVES TO SURVIVE. THE TRUSTEE VISIT, THAT WAS PLANNED FOR JULY 2020, WAS ONCE AGAIN POSTPONED. THIS TIME DUE TO COVID. Section E Financial review Brief statement of the Charity's poli¢y on reserves SUCH RESERVES AS THERE MAY BE ENTER A SPONSORSHIP ACCOUNT TO MAINTAIN THE 5 CHILDREN ENTERING SECONDARY SCHOOL EACH YEAR.
