This year We Can Dance have provided dance lessons costing £27,655 equating to over 1,100 hours to 18 schools. In addition we have provided T Shirts with Logo, Ballet shoes, paid exam fees, provided certificates and medals and props totalling £3590. We held fundraising events towards the cost of these lessons and other supplies namely:- • Ascot Ladies Day • Entries to the Great North Run We also applied for and were awarded grants from the following benefactors:- • Tesco • Teesside Charity • Mark / Allertonshire Masonic Charity • National Lottery • Boshier Hinton Trust • Moto Foundation • Thirsk Lions • Darlington Lions • Rank Foundation • Brunton Trust • EE Lawler Foundation In addition we held a Training Day for our current teachers and several others who were potential new recruits. This was run by the Northern Ballet (Leeds) and was extremely successful |

The benefits and important skills achieved from our regular lessons are: - Raising physical co-ordination powers - Increasing self-confidence, self-awareness and self-discipline - Developing greater sense of social skills through the enjoyment of dancing - Developing listening and concentration skills - Promoting a sense of pride and achievement - Developing memory skills - Improving self-initiative - Co ordination, social interaction, enjoyment and happiness. The evidence of these benefits and skills has been reported back on numerous occasions from both the school staff and parents. |
