Charity Details

Objectives and Purpose

Lambeth Walk Methodist Church exists to:

Advance the Christian faith in accordance with Methodist doctrine, provide worship and pastoral care, and serve the local community through outreach, hospitality, and acts of compassion.

The trustees have established their mission aims ‘ To respond to the Good news of Jesus Christ and to live out the Love of God for All people’ and will do this by : Being a Welcoming, hospitable and inclusive. A place which is open to all, that celebrates diversity and will share what we have in common with others. We will seek to be an environmentally conscious church and one that is committed to service and justice in our neighbourhood and across the world. Ion this we will seek to empower local people and work towards being a church that is responsive to the challenges and needs of the local community and open to working with other organisations to meet local needs and aspirations.

The trustees confirm that they have had due regard to the public benefit guidance issued by the Charity Commission for England and Wales.

Activities and Achievements

During the year, the church:

Impact:

The church moved into a newly built church building following a period meeting in a local community centre during the demolishment and rebuild of the church premises. Since moving into the new building in June 2025 the church has sought to become a welcoming and inclusive presence in the local area, offering spiritual support, community connection, and a

place of belonging. Our goal moving forward would be to increase activities to supported individuals experiencing isolation, hardship, and uncertainty, while nurturing faith and fellowship.

Financial Summary

Although we have a deficit in this year as we have inhabited this new building we have had a number of expenses that we do not expect in other years. The trustees consider the financial position of the church to be stable and will improve as the potential for income from use of the building by organisations who will pay a rental fee will increase as we move forward.

Reserves:

The trustees aim to maintain appropriate reserves to ensure the ongoing sustainability of the church’s mission and ministry, we have a reserves policy in which we agree to hold at least 6 months running costs in reserve should we be in a position of temporarily losing income.

Governance and Management

The church is governed by the Methodist Church’s structures and its own Church Council, which meets regularly to oversee the life and work of the church.

Risk and Safeguarding

The trustees will begin to review key risks, including financial sustainability, property, and volunteer capacity.

The church is committed to safeguarding children, young people, and vulnerable adults and follows Methodist safeguarding policies and procedures.

Trustee Responsibilities

The trustees are responsible for ensuring that the charity is managed in accordance with its governing document and relevant legislation, and for preparing this report.
