Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document

The Purpose of Scouting is to promote the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of the local, national and international communities.

The method of achieving this Aim lies in providing an enjoyable and attractive balanced programme of activities, based on the Scout Promise and Law and guided by adult leadership.

Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)

1st Easingwold (Forest of Galtres) Scout Group provides a programme of activities for more than 50 children and young people aged 6 to 14, delivered by adult volunteers.

1st Easingwold (Forest of Galtres) Scout Group owns and operates two community buildings and fundraises for the Group and the wider community.

In delivering its educational and developmental activities for children and young people, the trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit.

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year

During the restrictions imposed for the Covid-19 pandemic, the Group continued to deliver meaningful activities for children and young people either remotely or in a socially distanced form.

Once the restrictions were lifted, the number of children and young people in membership of the Group met and exceeded pre-Covid levels.

Children continued to earn progress and activity awards throughout the year. Whenever possible, they took part in faceto-face activities outdoors.

1[st] Easingwold Scout Group continued to invest in and improve its two properties, for the future benefit of members (children and young people) as well as the wider community.

Brief statement of the charity’s policy on reserves

The Group's policy for reserves is to maintain sufficient liquid assets to ensure that Scouting activities are able to continue for at least the next term (three months) whilst providing sufficient financial cover for most foreseeable emergencies e.g. replacing Scouting equipment and building maintenance.
