Andy Slorch was appointed on 4 December 2023 and mOd into the new Rectory, an exists'ng property that was subsequenty modemised in Pheasants Hill wth his family in April 2024. Andy is ably supported by Associate Prwt Revd. Sue Morton who has been in the valley Sin 2012. Throughout the year. the parBh continued to be supported by warious visiting and retired clergy. In particular, Revd. Peter Viney regularly took seNices and is a very lCOMe visitor to the benefice. (exduding the APCM) in person (no meelings were held by Zoom this year} lo conduct the busi of the PCC. All of the meetings were held at St Katharines,. Pamioor. The PCC Standing C(xnmrtlee did not nRel to exwlite urgent busin&%s during the year, as irtual meetings" are the preferred way to involve all members of the PCC in decision makiryJ. All PCC members are sent full details of the issue(s) and asked to vote to accept or reject proposals by email by the published deadline. Four virtual meetings Yre held in 2025 to expedite the urgenl business of the PCC that could not be delayed unlil the next scheduled PCC meeling. Since July 2024. Revd. Ar introduced a Shared meal with PCC'S al each PCC mting, as a mean8 of improving our fellowship with other PCC'S in the Hambleden valley. The idea being that over two evenings. all PCC'S woukl hold their n*tings and rotate each time to have an opportunty lo share a meal together. These numbers are sometimes skewed by baptisms, school services or group services being hekl which dramatlty increase attendan. Various layout options were dis(xMed with architects. an application was made to the Development Fund for a grant of half (£2160) the development costs of the project. The statement of Needs (created by Lin Gilbey) and the Ststement of SIgnffiCan (created by Laura Wortley) re submrtted lo the dio(xse. Lin and Laura have been particularly significant in pushing this project forvard and il shoukj be noled that we are so very grateful to ttm both for trEir unrelenting hard work. Hambleden Church Llghtlng - fioodlights on the north sNJe of the church and connected to the Lutron lighting system were replawl. Hambleden Electrlcs - The lightening conductor strip was connected lo the surge protection box inside the church. Electricians found that some of the 'failed' light bulbs had fauEty ffttings which needed to be replawl. Hambledon and Turvllle B•ll-ringorn - There have Lwi bells in the Hambleden valley for at least six hundred years. Out of the six churches in the group. only'Tup4ill8 <6 bells) and Hambleden (8 bells) have bells hung for method ringiTrJ and call d)ange8. The oldest is the 'Agincourt Bell. at Hambloden. which dates bad( to the battle of Agincourt in 1415. There are more than a dozen enthusiastic ringer5 who gr¥e up th'r evenings to practice at Tuprfille CNednesdays) and Hambleden (Fridays), 80 they can properfy call the congregation to Service, and to ring after weddiNJs and mark other special dates or events. Th8 ringers are members of the Oxford Diocesan Guild of C[Ch Belln'ngers. Church Porch Teas through ts summer monts offer refreshments to locals and passers- on Sunday aftemoons in Hambleden and make an extremely valuable financial contnbution to the running of the churches. Our sincere thanks go to Penny Wright who organised the church tea6. This year, there was also musical errtertairment on 88veral occasions, and over £ 7.000 was raised for thurch funds. Frieth church offjanise a monthty Lunch Club held at The Yew Tree, Frieth. This year the group was extended to include the urban thurthes and continues to be very well SuPpd. Once again. Hambleden and Frieth churches signed up to the annual Rlde and Strlde event organised by the Bucks Historic Churches Trust. People through the county visit churches and record their attendance and re1Ve refreshments and hospitality. This year it took Pla in September with Bishop Dave being the onty visitor to Hambleden church. Church Mu8lc - A grant appltcation to the t>eanery Mission Fund fi)r £1.245 to purchase portable keyboard was su&$fUl. The 3 Day West Vvycombe Charnber Musr Concerts in September 25 in Hambleden church and a small number of film days. All monitored by Samrny Webb and bringing in about £5.000 of fvnds. The acquisition and introduction of a Voti candle Stand in Hambn church has proved very popular and is well used and provides a modest amount of additi'onal income.
