Hamb18den arKI SL Joth the Evangelist Church. Frieth. Following the resignation of the Rector in 2020. the befice was suspended which allowj an Interim Priest in Charge to be recruited for a wiod of up to 18 months. After 8 thorough recruitrnent and selection process. the Revd Sue Lepp was appoin as Interim Priest in charge in December 2020 arKI to 0)mMen her duties in early January 2021 and was assisted by the Associate Priest Revd. Sue Morton arKI the part ts'me parish adminrstrator Jenny Neagle. During 2022, th8 Archdea7 agreed to extend the contrad of Revd Sue Lepp til De<xmber 2023 in ordw,to allow her to continue her w<)rk within the HVG group of churches. The parish continues to be supported Oy various visiling and retired dergy at times thrcghOut the year. In particutar, R8vd Patw Vinney regularly takes serrfi¢es and is a very welcome visrtor to the benefice, and rate Revd Andy Storth sp•rt some weeks within th8 HVG as part of his teamiry Jout Min in rural area8. FureS for Frieth church in brackets. 'Zoom" video church servic88 Started in May 2020 and have continu8d to be very popular with many local people throughout the valley. Th8se services have b88n takn'ng place m08t SurKlay's and Wednesday's for dty prayer since their introducts'on. Frieth Village Hall installed broadbarKI duriry 2021 for their use and generSlY agreed to allow Frieth Church to connect and use the broalband Servi by beaming the connection from the hall to the ehurch. The thurch paid forthe additiMal technical equipment as 8 on off cost but enjoy the use of the broadband at rbo additional cost. are very grateful to the Frieth Village Hall Manag&)tt wnmiitee for tt¥s onoirrfJ g8nwou8 and 'rKI arrangement. The negative financial impact to the church has wntinued to affect the church in spite of largely nomal services resumirKJ but with numbers still down on prewcovid levels. As ConWuen, the donations on the pl* have reduced whilst most expenses remain at the same or higher level th¥ing to inllati(m. Average attendances at Sunday s8rvic8s in Odob8r 2022 was 21 in Hambleden and 20 in Fiieth {2021 Hamb1 - 33 adults, Frieth 19 adults). Zoom thurch services have pro1 popular wilh many people and ox)tinued on most Wednesdays and also on Sunday swvices at Frieth thrcwhout the year.
