CHAIRMAN'S REPORT

Where do the days go? This year we recorded our 20th Anniversary. A celebration that was the highpoint of our year, with almost 300 people filing through the site on a warm day in September. It has been a year of much reflection and a time for marvelling at all that has been achieved over those years. We continue to move forward and off the back of COVID are attracting new visitors from all over the district. Our attendance figures and our volunteer numbers are strong. We have strengthened our commitment to the broader community and have been sharing our space with others, most notably, the NHS, the local Men in Sheds, the county guild of Weavers, two knitting groups together with art and creative writing clubs. I am committed to the idea that society is made stronger through sharing and our new relationships are testament to that on a daily basis. With partners turning up with donations of time, money and goods.

We have continued to receive strong support from others, with donations coming from many directions and a number of local companies supporting us by sending in voluntary labour.

On the volunteer front, I must record the success of our work experience programme with Worcester University. We have run 9 residencies with trainee therapists and the feedback from all has endorsed a longer-term commitment from them.

This has not been a big year for projects. Off the back of COVID, I was keen to ensure that we remained financially stable and were operating safely. I am pleased to report that we remain strong.

Buoyed by this, we will run all of our regular autumn and Christmas activities, indeed the Pantomime

It has truly been a joyous year, so greatly enriched by the generosity and commitment of all who have attended. I extend my thanks to students and volunteers who have supported the site in a multitude of ways. Without exception all who joined us have demonstrated that they truly care.

A new year beckons, and new projects await our attention Thank you all.

Mr C P Evans

INDEPENDENT ACCOUNTANTS' REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF THE BUTTERFLY GARDEN ON THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2021 AS SET OUT ON PAGES 6 AND 7

The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year (under Part 8 and sections 145 and 152 of the Charities Act 2011 (the Act) and that an independent examination is needed.)

It is our responsibility to:

Our examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charities Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a true and fair view and the report is limited to those set out in the statement below.

In the course of our examination, no matter has come to our attention:

  1. which gives us reasonable cause to believe that in, any material respect, the requirements:

  2. to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the Act; and

  3. to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 1993 and 2011 Acts; have not been met; or

  4. to which, in our opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
