The following policies and prO￿dureS are provided to each new charity trustee Newcastle Upon Tyne Street Pastors Constitution October 2009 (Reviewed February 2014). The Seven Trustees form the Management Committee. The Trustees formally meet a minimum of four times a year. All Trustees give their time voluntarily and receive no remuneration or other benefrts during the year. A Street Pastor Co-ordinator is employed for days a week. The principal roles and responsibiltties of the C￿ordInatOr is to recruit and organise training for new SPS, liaise with current SPS to resource weekly patrols, assist in the development of working protocols with the police, the local council and other agencies, speak on the work of Street Pastors to other organisations and to fund-raise for the work of Street Pastors. An integral part of the role is to regularly brief the Management Committee on the work and development of the initiative within the area and to ensure that the Management Committee comply with chartty law, the Licence Agreement and the various Street Pastors, policies, procedures and guidelines. policies and procedures adopted for the induction and training of trustees; the charity's organisational structure and any wider network with which the charity relationship with any related parties; trustees, consideration of major risks and the syslem and pra￿dureS to manage them. A Treasurer supports the work of NSP. Responsibilities include banking of receipts and organising payments, producing monthly management reports, preparing and submitting Gift Aid claims, preparing an annual report for presentation at the Annual General Meeting, and submitting an Annual Return for the Charity Commission. Street Pastors Newcastle works in partnership with the following Newcastle Cty Council, by signposting vulnerable persons to Changing Lives, Housing Advice, Children's Services and Domestic Violence. Newcastle Cty Council: workinglupdating the Rough Sleeper Coordinator. Northumbria Police, in strategic planning for the nFghttime economy and other ad hoc events. Northumbria Poli￿, by releasing resources for more pressurised matters. The Ambulance Serdice, by providing basic first aid, thus reducing ambulance calls. FSNE Medical by offering frontline first aid and working in their Mobile Medical Unit llxated in the city centre. Licenses premisesldoor staff and hoteliers, by caring for vulnerable people entering or leaving their premises. Changing Lives, by referring the homeless to their Outreach Team. St Nicolas, Cathedral, who provide a city centre office Spa￿ and an operational base. Nexus-patrols in and around Haymafket & Eldon Square Bus Stations. Section C Ob"ectives and activities The objects of the Street Pastors Newcaslle as set out in the 2009 Constitution and reviewed in 2014 are To advance education in accordance with Christian principles by such means as the Management Committee may consider appropriate in Newcastle upon Tyne and in such other parts of the United Kingdom or the world as the Management Committee may from time to time think fit and to fulfil such other purposes which are exclusively charitable according to the law of England and Wales and are connected with the charrtable work of the Charty. Patrols take place each w￿k in the ￿ntre of Newcastle on a Friday and Saturday betsveen 10,15 p.m. and 4.00 a.m. Additional evenings are arranged for specific nights or 'risk nights,, e.g. New Yearfs Eve, Fresher's Week. During the patrols, Street Pastors respond to the needs of members of the public. Needs are varied ranging from, caring for those who are incapacttated through drugs, alcohol or both. men or women separated frotn friends; those who are sleeping rough. are cold, hungry. and thirsty; those wrthout suitable footwear and those who just need directions to their hotels. Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (Include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit) Health and safety are improved by the provision of flip flops, hydration in the provision of bottles of water. energy by providing confectFonery, warmth in the provision of space blankets and small items of clothing and recharging facilities for mobile phones to help with communication. First Aid is administered if needed or appropriate advice is given to seek the coThect help. E.g. A'safe Haven Van, is available on Friday and Saturday evenings and is operaled by Northumbria Police. It offers a warm environment and the opportunity to charge mobiles. Staff from St John's Ambulance l FSNE, situated next to the safe Haven are there too. Street Pastors remove thousands of bottles and glasses as they move around the Cty. Patrols allow Street Pastors to meet people throughout the City. They take time to listen to and talk to revellers, the homeless, door and laxi rank staff; bar and restaurant staff, police and emergency services. The charity's main SoUr￿S of income are Individual donations and gift aid Donations by tocal churches and related groups Volunteer contributions for unifomis and training A grant from the Police and Crime Commissioner via Northumbria Poli General Fund Total income for 2024 amounted to £27,380 an increase of £80 of income 2023 £27,314. However, we received £20.000 from Northumbria Police for 2023. Total expenditure for 2024 amounted to £26353 decrease of £11848 compared to 2023 £38,211. The main areas of expenditure are the Co- ordinator's salary, the service charge, licence fee Operational costs & Training. These are unavoidable costs to the running of the charty in 2024. A surplus £1,027 was reported in 2024, compared with a deficit of £10,896 in 2023. Unrestricted reserves at 31 December 2024 are £28251.53 which are held in cash with Reliance Bank. They amount to 12 monlhs of expenditure. The Trustees have set a minimum 6-month financial reserve larget, which based on current expenditure levels is £2,196 per month. If this were reached, then the Trustees would seek to implement a strategy to secure the chaTty's financial viability.
