Chair’s Report Year ended 31[st] March 2023 Charity no: 1131507
Mission Statement
Friends of Hillcross (FOH) has two primary functions:

To raise funds to enhance the children’s experiences and learning at school.
-
To enhance relationships between parents, teachers, and the wider community
Both of these functions are met by organising and running fundraising initiatives throughout the year.
Summary
We were able to run the following fundraising events:

Quiz Night

Christmas Gift Market
-
Raffles (Christmas, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and Easter)

Winter, Spring and Summer Fairs
-
3 school discos – one each term
In addition, FOH continued to raise money via easyfundraising.org.uk and Amazon Smile.
Summer Fair – 2022
The Summer fair returned after a 2 year absence with a lovely day had by all
Eddison White’s estate agents sponsored the event
A huge thank you to everyone who helped on the day

Pre –loved Christmas Jumper Sale

This was also a new event for Hillcross. This event supports environmental sustainability as well as providing affordable access to Christmas jumpers and was very popular

A huge thank you to Wendy who was the lead organiser for the event as well as thanks to all the volunteers who helped prepare and helped on the day.

Christmas Gift Market – Dec 2022
A favourite within the school community, the gift market continues to grow in popularity each year
404 gifts were ordered for last December’s market
Many thanks to Rosie and Viccie for organising the market and to all the helpers who facilitated in advance and on the day.

Winter Fair for Christmas

These events were well attended and received positive feedback from children, parents and staff.

The entire fair was outside

Many traditional stalls were held along with some new ones. The committee will build on the learning and feedback from these events for the Fairs in the next school year.

Parent Mixers Games Tribute Night – – November 2022 & Quingo March 2023
A new event – Games Tribute night was held in October with the Quingo night in March. Both were a great success and thoroughly enjoyed by the competing teams. Dean was our Quizmaster with Mr Christie as the bingo caller. Thank you to the members of the school community who attended. Thanks also to organisers,Calire, Deborah, Anna and Viccie as well as the other volunteers who helped with preparation and on the night. Profit £1075.04
Spring Fair

These events were well attended and received positive feedback from children, parents and staff.

Discos
- One disco was held each term
This event was well attended and received positive feedback from the children.

Some parents struggled to meet the booking deadline causing administrative difficulties for both the school and volunteer teams

Raffles: Mother’s Day, Christmas, Easter

Prizes, including hampers, consisted mainly of donated items (thus incurring no cost) with small purchases made to supplement the donations.

Kayleigh Hamilton kindly made the hampers this year with Vicky sourcing a number of prizes from various companies

The Christmas raffle was drawn by the Mayor of Merton
Spending Review
A number of purchases have been made this year to enhance the children’s learning experience.
Particularly in the Art room and Cooking areas.
In addition, FOH funded the Leavers’ Books for the outgoing Year 6 pupils, as well, as always, Christmas crackers for the school Christmas lunch. Total Donations made to the school - £8,090.12
