Once we had been able to worshlp trgck in church then a request for music and hymn s(gning was made. Currently we do noi have a dlrector of music. but Susan Wanty and Helen Wright agreed to play the organ once a month. and the other tyvo weeks we would use CDS. Shortly after. David Burton was in touch to say that he willing ¢0 play one Yleek. These three organists are working on a Voluntary basis. we are grateful for the fat¢ they enable us to have musk. Another challenge for us has been the production of a church magazlne. for various reasons this has not been possible. but we do from trme to time produce a leaflet setting out imp)rtant inforniation and encouraging people ¢0 joln us at church. Carolyn left the partsh, and we went into vaoncy. This meant extra responsibilits'e5 for my5eM Ann and Lisa and l am very gr41efvl for all they have done. Wlth the help of very willing retired Priesr5. we havo managed to maintain all the services as usual except for a weekty Wednesday mornlng EufvisL This now takes ?￿Ce on the first Wednesday of the month with lay led Morning Prdyer on the other weeks. There ar¢ many people who need to be thanked lor all they have done. All cannot be named but I woukl e$pecialty like to thank Sue Wanty lor all she does in the 14rish Office, preparing the weekty notice sheets and ensuring the 1￿CesSary paperwork for baptisms. weddift85. funera15. and intern)ent of ashes are ¢ompleted. Also. Graham Taylor who has so rella￿e and willlng in helpng in any way he can. Many member5 01 the congregation have been $0 supportive. an(i Teddy Praise has continued. usualty every Thwo weeks and Open Church every month. Both are well supported with varying numbers each time and member5 01 the community are encourdged to attend. The Sociil Committee have organised severél thjnd-raising eyenu during the year irKludirtz a successlul Christma5 Fair. Movie NighL and Pancake Party. Thank5 to Helen for orynising these. We are also grarelul to Irene Hutchinson for organising coffee morning5 and a SFthsored Wall both of whbch ralsed much needed funds for the Church. Thanks, are also extended to the iroup of Feople tho regularly come exh Friday morning to keep the thur¢h clean and to those who deliver food to enable us to support the Food 8ank at SL Richards. The church yard continues to be mairtrtsined by the Probation Pay t4d( Scheme who come each Friday and work hard in keeping the gra55 Cut and do additional jobs as rewired. The fabric of the church is maintained in good order although we still await a quinquennHI reporL During the wSnter storms a larye slate wa5 displaced from the south roof. This has been ¢emporarily repaired and on advice from the insurers a full inspection of the roof has taken place and we await an estimate for any further work which may be required. then we can make one claim. I feel that the thur¢h is ￿ well as it can be. Warden. Irene Parker Chur¢h WHITKIRK DEANERY SYNOD REPORT 2021 The Deanery Synod represenTrrives during the year were Llsa Mahoney and ￿nICe Poole. Meeting5 were held both in person and vta Zoom.

Durlng the year diKusslons cemred very much ¢Jn what Ilfe was like during and as we emerged from the Covid pandemic. We heard how various congregations were using Lrve- 5treaminz ind zoom to mainoin worship and some were ￿Ing their churchyard and rdens. Methley had linked with the Quiet Garden Movement ¢0 provide a qulet and peaceful area for refflection whilst the church VAS ¢loseol. Ther¢ were also talks from rnemkn regarding poltrtical eng￿ement and climate change In view of the forthcoming COP26 meetln£ in Glasgow and we were encouraged to support the politkal Cam￿lIn. In October 2021 the new diocesan secretary Jonathan Wood the opporninry to introduce himself afler having taken up hi5 Post at the beginning of lockdown in 2020. He was keen fo encourage parlshes to look on the diocesan offi¢e as a resource and not be Shy about askir¢ for information. The October meeting was the last one attended by Bishop Paul before his retirement and his closinz prayer that we would have the resources we need for the Mi￿10Th God has gNen us. It had been hoped io ho￿ a fornm ort 9 March 2021 but this had to be cancelled and rnembers were encouraged irtstead to rake pary in a zoom event orpnised by the Leeds Church Institute and Gather Leeds on IS February. We acknowledged that the Gospel called us to look at the difficulr things in a creative mafiner, con$idering the lywr and br￿der ￿ture. The Archdeacon wa5 keen to know where rishts were with mission, where they were heading and what support was needed to move forward. Confidence tn leaders was key in a period of change. The next Nvhttkirk Deanery Synod meeting will be at Manston on 15 June. and everyone is welcome co attend. There is a review of the Anglican Churches in East Leeds raking pFa¢e. The 2022 walk of wkne55 on Good Friday t<)ok place. The AGM meeting for 2022 wrll take place on the 8 June at Manstork and it will be necessary to appoSnt a new chair. Ann Hemsworth SAFEGUARDING: Parish Safeguarding Officer's Report The role of the Parish safe￿rdIng Officer is the safeguarding of the peoth of the parlsh, In particular the chFldren. young peop￿, and vulntrable adults and to be a link between the parish and the diocese. To do this the PCC has adopted, displayed, and is gradLr4lly iMplemer￿n% The House of Bi%hops' Salezuar¢Jing Pollcy, Promoting a Safer Church. One aspett of this is the ¢heckiTrz ol those in a posriion of responsibtlrry wi¢hin the church whpch is impor¢ant for the safeguarding of those they serne. This is checked annually and was carrbed out this year with the PCC. Beyond this the PCC have been asked to cary out training regarding safeguarding. The inrcial trdining vft5 corn￿ed. however more trnining 1$ required by the diocese now so this will be followed up and put on the PCC agenda for the new year. {1 have assisted those who wished help wrth their training and am happy to do th again in the firture). Through the year we have moved from level one to two, which 15 fantsstic. Moving in¢0 the new year. besides further training fer the PCC and others holding position5 wthin the church there ￿11 be a revi￿ of the safeguardlng attion plan, safeguarding procedure5. learning and development and chirth activi￿e$. l thank all of those who are ￿kIng an acrive pan in saleguarding and remlnd everybody that safeguardinz 15 everyone's business. There are no SeParn￿ reports from Fwle using the church hall. but we can repon that Unrformed Organisation5 have now returned to full use of the hall. all seerions of both Scouttng and Guiding are represenfed. In addition. we have long term lettings by a Yoga Club and a Tots Group. There are regular Short term lets by Craft Clubs and many thih4ren'5 parties. Over the course of the lockdown and reopenlng much maintenance work been done in thÈ hall. including the removal of asbestos from the main hall, with the necessary remedial

work to the awowate areas. The Payback Scheme who are assisting In the p3rrsh have done many smaller maintenance jobs. including palnun8 and more recently we have been the recipients of some good qualrty used furniture which ha5 enabled the upstairs room to be furnlshed as a (rdinin￿craft room and the downstairs Sandbed Lane room to be fvrnlshed as a smaller meeting and lounge area. Thanks are emnded to Yvonne Gallty and Martyn Sharp for the work they have done to enable this ¢0 happen and to Chrks Cowlin¥ of Alpeona who have gifted the furniture.
