Structure Go�ernance and Management

The Association is governed under a constitution that �as adopted on 23 April 2008. The po�er to appoint the Trustees lies �ith the members of the Holmesdale School Parents and Staff Association.

Objecti�es and acti�ities

The object of the Association is to advance the education of pupils in the School in particular b�:

The PSA Committee continued �ith the successful virtual �Walk to Lapland�event �hilst the Summer Fair made a �elcome return and the Winter Walk �as a great success. Other events included childrens�discos, a pantomime, Mothers�and Fathers�Da�sales and the Year 2 sailing event.

There �ere also funds generated from the PSA shop, corporate sponsorships, Year 2 leavers T-shirts and Christmas Tree sales.

During the �ear the Association raised a total of �19,333 �hich can be summarised as follo�s:

The PSA Shop contribution of �1k �as less than the previous �ear of �8k but this �as due to timing of invoices for a large stock order in summer 2021.

During the �ear the Association applied funds of �18,600 for the benefit of Holmesdale Communit�Infant School and its pupils as follo�s. In addition to this, further contributions �ere made to classes �ho requested funding for resources, �hich totalled �1,003.

Financial re�ie�

The Association holds cash funds at the end of the �ear of �30,428 all of �hich are unrestricted funds. These funds are held in order to support the activities of the Association and in order to donate equipment and funds to Holmesdale Communit� Infant School.

At the �ear end the PSA held stocks of uniform in the PSA shop for sale in 2021/22.

Reser�es polic�

To ensure adequate reserves the PSA �ill not commit to items of greater value than the cash book balance adjusted for e�isting commitments and spending.

Independent E�aminer�s Report to the trustees of Holmesdale School Parents and Staff Association

I report on the accounts of Holmesdale School Parents and Staff Association on the accounts for the �ear ended 31 August 2022 set out on pages 7 and 8.

Respecti�e responsibilities of trustees and e�aminer

The charit��s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The trustees consider that an audit is not required for this �ear under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent e�amination is needed.

It is m�responsibilit�to:

Basis of independent e�aminer�s statement

M�e�amination �as carried out in accordance �ith General Directions given b�the Charit�Commission. An e�amination includes a revie�of the accounting records kept b�the charit�and a comparison of the accounts presented �ith those records. It also includes consideration of an�unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking e�planations from �ou as the trustees concerning an�such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that �ould be required in an audit, and consequentl�no opinion is given as to �hether the accounts present a �true and fair vie��and the report is limited to those matter set on the statement belo�.

Independent e�aminer�s statement

In connection �ith m�e�amination, no matter has come to m�attention;

  1. Which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in an�material respect the requirements;

  2. to keep accounting records in accordance �ith section 130 of the 2011 Act; and

  3. to prepare accounts �hich accord to the accounting records and compl��ith the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act

have not been met.
