Minehead Ba istered Chari tist Church . Number 1130521 ANNUAL REPORT OF MINEHEAD BAPTIST CHURCH Year to 31 Jul 2025 Review of the Year Let us not become weary ill doillg goo(L for at the proper time we reap a barYe$t rfwe do not give up. Galatians 6.9 Jn one s]Se this verse sums up the past ycar. There have been times Wh we have felt weary and the Lord has reminded us that we are doing his work. And there bave been times in the past year when we have looked at ow finatlces and had io acknowledge that something needs to CEIge that either we need to reduce costs or tncr¢as¢ in¢oEU¢. And th¢ have becn times in the past yrar whffl w¢ can srt the first sw of a coming barvesL The words of this slpture remind all to stand finn in holding doing gocNI following what the tA)rd is asking us too to do. And that if we remain faithfjjl in doing so th¢ wlll be a haryest. Finanee8 For the majority of the financial year it was eXpted that we would with a deficit of apprOx]lltelY £1,000 per mot and that across the year th¢ dcficit would be apptoximately £12-15,0(M). The possibility of fillisbg the year witb a deficit was shared with the Church as s(M)n as y)5sible and an upturn in regular giving has reduced the deficit to c£7000. Towards the end of the financial year a rwnse to th¢ calIll of Toll]my Pratt to be a Part-Tim¢ Asso¢ial¢ Minister resulted in funds being given to support Tonmiy across the coming 3-year period. Funds already given mean that we Can plan towards a small surplus in the current financial year. This was the first full year when we have taken donations using debit and credit card5. Whilst we acknowledge that this is never likely to bc thc primary way that PTrple ve to the church we are also able to scc that the amount given tlll"s way has increased ov¢r the year and that this represents an itnportant and convenient way of givtTrg for some. Our funCIal position is shared with the church members 6 times a year 8lld it is recognised that tbis enables the chwch to respond as quickly as possible to any issues we face. As in past ycars the trustees helpal enorMOS1Y by the treasurer. are Updat monthly on the fijjancial position in order io mai7Ltain good fllRncial management. Review of the year future plans We began this y¢a¥ knowing that this was thc la year Tommy Prdtt would be with us as a millistcr in training as hc came to the end of his time as student minister ai Bristol Baptist College. Hos next step lo fvlly accredited Baptist Ministy would be to become an Ordain minister and complde a pcnod of being a Newly Accredited Minister (NAM). In order to complete this Tommy is required to remain at the same church setting as a minister for 3 years. Should IK>th we and Tommy believe that h¢ was (xlled to stay at MBC this would rnean a 3-year con]nMtment. From early in tbc past academic year, we began a process of discement with Tommy as we sought to understand what we believed God was saying to us. Prayer played a large part of this. and whilst we spent a SIlfiCant aTnount of prayer we were also aware of thc finallcial reality cxprcsscd aErf)ve. In a very real way to call Tommy to stay would require a step of faith. Following a titne of prayer and reflection the church decided overwbelmingly to call Tommy to the ministry at MBC and offered hirn the post of a Part-Time AssoCie Minister. Tommy has accept¢xl this caIl. and we look fonvard to his Ordination and Induction as a Minister at MBC at some titne in thc autumn. In response to this a generous response from a llUTnbcr of inth"viduaIs means tbat ful8 hav¢ atready been and designated to his ministry to enable thi.s to continue for the next couple of years at least. This year saw us launch 'Cuppa and Cake, at The Hub. 'Cuppa ond cake. reaches out to 'aD older audience, and invites theTn lo simply come and spend some time together over tea (¢otTee is also avadablcl) and homemade cake. Over the

Numbet3 have growry rclationships fonned and d¢¢pen¢d. and we are reaching out to llLore ppIe thall ever before In this coming ycar wc continue to look to The Hub Connect with its cotDmut)ity and will explore how this may be achieved. We long to engage them with the message of the Gospel as appropriate, respond to the needs of both community and church and eDable the comllLUDity and the church to grow in faith tbrough the aUtI'C presentation of th¢ gosp¢l message. In response to requests e1Ved and after pray¢thll ¢onsid¢ration we decided to set up sottLe Sutxlay cvening bible studies. These have been wide ranging and a good nUllth of people either regularly or from time to time attended. It has been a personat encouragement to be a part of tl)is and to listen to others as we th"scuss scripture together. This year has also sccn Tommy forni a new Life Group. and EKJth Prayer Ministry and Lead1P trainillg delivered. As we end the year July has been in many ways for the church a month of great Contrasts. It saw a moment when the whole comrllunity of Minehead broke its heart over a young life lost $0 tragically and a number of b'ves altered foTever following ttle coach crash involving chddren from the Middle School. None of us can ever answer the question 'why' that those Suffering so acutcly often ask but we Ca and th"d. join together in prayer praying for God's help and comfort for everyone involved or affected Not only did we prny but we joined with the other Christians in lown as we sought lo hold up our community in prdyer before the Lord. Many within our wider community came together for a simple service on the Sunday following the trdgedy. l am aware that for many who would not nornially come inside a churclL the way we sttnply prayed and gave space for prdyer and r¢flcction has proven to be imwrtant as they started to come to tem)s with what happcned. I am confident that our continued prayas for the sch(K)l and Community vnll continue to be ]mEallt for the foreseeable future. Yet we ended the year in ¢¢l¢bration as we h¢lp 2 baptisms in the sea- always an atllazing moment in tbe life of the church. It is, of course. itnPOSsible to know exactly what this coming year will bring but we enter it in sirnply drawing close to our rd and trusting him alone. In what will be her last filll year I specifically wanted to lake the chance to thank Pauline our amazing treasurer. I am aware of much that she docs for us thai is unsea4 but not everything that she does. which ill itself i5 tC5timony to how much she does for Minehead Baptist Church. BUL PaUle be missed even more for the way she brings Iler own fatth to running the church finances. It is true to say that she will be impossible to replace. Yel as the bible verse at the beginning of this report says we will not grow weary in seeking who the tA)rd is calimg to serve MBC as treasurer. Rather we choose to simply press Énto all that our LDrd has for in trwsting him with ¢verything- including our finances- and we will see a harye8t. No review of the year would evff be Complete without acknowledging the amazing work and effort made by so many volunteers who give their time and effort to MBC in so many ways. It is right to ihank my fellow trustees for all their hard work. It is also right that we give the most thanks to our aw¢som¢ who continues to bc gcnerous to us in all way5, including our finances.
