Aehievements and performance The Trust was able to produce a two week Summer Festival using the same formal as th¢ pr¢vious yea¥ with a matn tnarquee venue and four chur¢h¢s spread across the North York Moors National Park. The 2023 theTlle 'lnto the oking Glass. which con5j5ted of 14 concerts. The (heme took its inspir2tion Lewis Carroll's Alice stories which were explored through the prism of sound all expressed thmugli music. The iiispiration behind the 15th Festival came about frorn questioning what music means in a world where our understanding of what is real or even nortnal has been somewhat challenged over tlie past tl)ree years. The main bulk of activity took place in the specially hired marquee in Welburn Manor which continued io draw new audiences to the range of styles and mix of ¢omposers. OtheT Concerts were held in Coxwold. Danby, Lastingham and Egton Bridge. The Trust were delighted to return to Laslingham after an absence of several years 2S It was the ad-ho¢ conccrts held here in thc 20005 whiGh led to the Festival beiiig foutsded., we were delighted tliat the coiicert Wds cornpletely 501d out. Audicncc feedback continued to show a strong desire to maEntain the arrangcrncnt of a tnai marquee venue with a 5tnall number of church concerts. The Trustees have continued to ivork hard on a model that is financially 5UStainable to include ihe marquee. We are very gratefvl to Major arsd Mr5 J Shaw for their generosity in hosting us at Welburn Manor for tsvo weeks which contribute5 significantly to making this possible.

The Trust were deliglited to raise £1500 for the appeal and share music with Johannc's fricnds and family. A Launch Concert was held at All Saints. Helmsley in November 202i wliicli featured a range of piano music. Thi5 was well attended. The Trustees were able to secure suffi¢ient grants and donatioThs to ensure the 2023-24 p¢riod largely bloke even in temjs of income and expenditure. The Trustees remain satisfied tliat the Festival is operating in a fjnancially stable manner. The TTUStee5 met twice durin8 the year to review goveman¢¢ and finan¢ial reqLtiT¢m¢nts and tnake decisioTrs regarding charitable aciivity. Financial revlew The charity relies on donations and grants as the main sources of iiicome. Effort5 to secure new funding sourcc5 have continued since the year end. Incotning resource5 for the year were £71,972. R¢sour¢es exp6nded during the year were £83.013 resulting in ao overall n¢t d¢cr¢ase in fuTrds of £l1.041. Th¢ amounts of reserves held at the end of the year were £116.899. £51,280 of which is unrestri¢¢ed and £65.619 of thich is restri¢ted. Reserves Th¢ tru5t¢e5 have established a policy whereby a minimum of 5% of tn¢ome should b¢ held in reserves at all times to cover any unfor¢seen ¢xp¢nditure.
