Group Scout Leaders Report 2022 Welcome to our group AGM. This booklet contains the reports from all the Sections and gives you a brief outline of the group's activities over the past year. After taking over from Gary Tagg at last yearfs AGM, and following 2 years of difficult times for everyone. I would like to extend my thanks to all the Leaders Executive Committee and all the parents for all their effort in keepin8 the Scout group going. Its good to be back to face to face meetin8s & a fairly normal Scouting programme. For those that do not know me, I have lived in the village for over 60 years and been involved in Scouting most of my life. I have been involved with 1st Mountsorrel Scout group since its reopening, firstly in the background helping the then chairperson. to becoming an assistant Beaver leader, before moving onto working on the Executive Committee & now as GSL. In the last year, all sections have been active with camps. days out as well as at the Scout hut. The group numbers are going up and a good waiting list for new members to join the beavers. The Scout Group has a building maintenance schedule and improvement list, with the roof replacement beginning in a few weeks, time. This major project means we will need to become proactive in fund raising to refurbish the kitchen, toilet & general redecoration, with active participation at the Mountsorrel Revival in August. Towards this end, and with the sad loss of ourTreasurer, other members standing down after long years of Service. We are actively seekingto expand the Executive Committee. I would like to thank all the young leaders for all the time that they have put in over the last year and all the hard work with all the sections, without whom we would not be able to run some activities. Can I remind everyone that all the helpers and leaders do so voluntary, at absolutely no cost to the Group, without all their hard work, none of this would have been possible. Without leaders and adult helpers, the group would not exist. If you can spare an hour a week and would like to help, either directly with the young people or on the committee, please talk to any of the leaders or committee members. cubs 1st Mountsorrel Cub Report 2021 (Co¥evs Mar Z021- Feb 2022) The year started on Zoom. and aren't we glad that period is over, but we did have a couple of good sessions to finish off the Covid lockdown period including making the homemade Oreo biscuits which was a great success. After Easter we were back to face2face Scoutin& although we had to split the pack so we had lower numbers in the Scouthall. meaning each Cub only managed to squeeze in % the normal number of weeks up to the summer holidays, but it was great to be back & the Cubs all enjoyed the activities including a hike & fire lighting. After Summer was when we truly got back to normal, where we started back with Non-stop cricket on the park, Off Road cycling @ Syston's track, and practiced some First Aid including CPR, bandages & made some very realistic looking artificial wounds. We closed our Autumn / Winter Term with a trip to see Alladin @ The Panto. We also worked towards our Entertainers badge, and whilst we couldn't invite the parents along to watch the sketches the Cubs performed, we did share their efforts via some Facebook videos. Into the New Year 2022 and we have been working towards our skills badges which the Cubs will continue to work on over the next few weeks. We have also taken part in the Districts 10-Pin Bowling competition & been Tobagganing & Tubing @ Swadlincote Ski Centre. Thanks to all the Cubs, Parents for embracing the Covid precautions we had to put in place, and thanks to our Cubs Leadership team for their extra efforts in keeping Scouting active during these times. We look forward to the year ahead, and are pleased to welcome both Tony & Adam on board as a Leaders during the last year. as well as our Young Leaders Bella & Emma who have started helping. Cub Leaders & Young Leaders

SCOUTS This year has been a strange one to get back into as this time last year the scouts were operating in two groups following social distancing. we did some simple crafts but found some were harder for the kids than we thoughtl Almost all of them gave up blank stares and confused faces at a paper plane derby we had planned. with the majority of the night being eaten by us have to teach them first! We also tried making slime but something about the hut just didn't want to let it work. Mug cakes were a big hit and only one scout tried to cause havoc with a metal mug. We then moved onto our photography and chef badges when the group was all allowed together again to get them working together for a goal, some group5 had quite grand meal ideas that we had to ensure were toned down as they only had the one pan to use. In 2022 we've had them making their own birdboxes and planting veggies at the hut for a green thumbed approach, the plants managed to grow nicely over the next term. We also get ourgroup back outto a camp with the district space camp. everyone managed to have a blast which means more work for the leaders in the futurel The scouts are ending the year with self-led activities, giving thern a taste of control and hopefully inspiring some leaders of tomorrow! I'd like to thank Ash for taking control of this ragtag bunch and for Dan, Gaby, Gary and Sarah for their support this year. Georgia Ward
