Activities

The objectives of East Coast Sail Trust are that of maintaining and preserving the traditional Thames Sailing Barge, "Thalatta", or other similar barge as may be acquired, in sea-going order and using the vessel to benefit young people from all walks of life by the provision of educational cruises.

Objects: 3. The Charity's Objects (the Objects) Are:(a) To Discover, Acquire, Repair, Reconstruct, Maintain, Preserve And Exhibit For Thebenefit Of The Nation One Or More Coastal Sailing Barges Of The Type Peculiar To Thethames Estuary In Any Of The Traditional Variations Of Its Hull And Rig With Ourwithout Auxiliary Motive Power (hereinafter Called "vessels") And The Equipmentand Furnishings Thereof And Historical Building And Relics Relating Thereto.(b) To Make Available Such Vessel For The Purpose Of The Instruction Of All Classes Ofboys And Girls, Students And Other Young Persons In The Principles Of Discipline,loyalty And Good Citizenship By Means Of Educational Cruises And Instruction Inseamanship And To This End From Time To Time To Enter Into Such Agreementswhether Under Seal Or Otherwise As The Council May Think Fit For The Chartering Ofthe Vessels To Any Education Authority Or Foundation Or Any Other Body Whethercorporate Or Not And For Either Their Exclusive Use Or Otherwise And To Contributeto The Provision Of Such Aforesaid Benefit As The Council May Think Proper.
