A Word from our Patron I would like to sincerely thank all of BIGKID'S supporters and funders for your unfailing commitment this year. Sir Kenneth Olisa OBE +4 2020 is the kind of year thatcan make you or break you. None ofus were ppad for it and it affected everyone and everythingacross the globe. l am delighted that BIGKID was able to see through the panic and rise to the challenge of reinventing their services so that hundreds of vulnerable young people have felt cared for and positNely engaged in a year that has shaken their education, relatnShIpS and mental health. It Is a privilege to see good leadership in attion and I have seen that this year at BIGKIO. They have focused on the individual young petsonwhilst not losing sight of the bigger picture aThl planning towards it. This year has proved that BIGKI D is a strong and resilient organisation, well able to a dapt to challenges and grow. It is my great pleasure tosupportthem as their Patron and I would like tosincerely thank all their supporters and funders foryour unfailing commitment this year.

Trustees Annual Report
Reserves
The Trustees consider that the level of unrestricted reserves should be approximately equivalent to the charity’s organisational expenditure for three months. At 31st December 2020, reserves represented 4.5 months’ expenditure. This has provided a cushion against uncertainty created by the Covid pandemic and will enable the charity to continue expansion of its programmes going forward.
Trustees' Responsibilities
The trustees (who are also directors of BIGKID Foundation) are responsible for preparing the Trustees’ Report and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice).
Company law requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year, which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and of the incoming resources and application of resources, including the income and expenditure, of the charity for the year. In preparing these financial statements, the trustees are required to:-
· Select suitable accounting policies and then applied them consistently;
- Observe the methods and principles in the Charities SORP;
· Make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent; and
· Prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to assume that the charity will continue on that basis.
The trustees are responsible for maintaining proper accounting records that disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Companies Act 2006. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
INDEPENDENT EXAMINER
A resolution proposing that Andrew Upton be reappointed as independent examiner will be put to the trustees.
This report was approved by the trustees at their meeting on the 17th of August 2021.
On behalf of the Board of Trustees
Michelle Tuft - Chairman
INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF BIGKID FOUNDATION
I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Company for the year ended 31st December 2020.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND BASIS OF REPORT
As the charity’s trustees (who are also the directors of the company for the purposes of company law), you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006 (“the 2006 Act”).
Having satisfied myself that the accounts of the Company are not required to be audited for this year under Part 16 of the 2006 Act and are eligible for independent examination, I report in respect of my examination of your charity’s accounts as carried out under section 145 of the Charities Act 2011 (“the 2011 Act”). In carrying out my examination, I have followed the Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act.
INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S STATEMENT
The company’s gross income exceeded £250,000 and I am qualified to undertake the examination by being a qualified member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention which gives me cause to believe that:
· accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 386 of the Companies Act 2006; or · the accounts do not accord with such records; or
· the accounts do not comply with relevant accounting requirements under section 396 of the Companies Act 2006 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair’ view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination; or
· the accounts have not been prepared in accordance with the Charities SORP (FRS102).
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

The charity meets the definition of a public benefit entity under FRS 102.
3. ACCOUNTING POLICIES
3.1
Basis of preparation of financial statements Assets and liabilities are initially recognised at historical cost or transaction value unless otherwise stated in the relevant accounting policy note(s). The financial statements are prepared in sterling, which is the functional currency of the charity.
3.2
Judgements and key sources of estimation uncertainty The preparation of the financial statements requires the use of accounting estimates. It also requires management to exercise judgement in applying accounting policies. The trustees consider that there are no judgements or estimates that have had a significant effect on amounts recognized in the financial statements.
3.3
Going concern There are no material uncertainties about the charity's ability to continue.
3.4
Fund accounting Unrestricted funds are available for use at the discretion of the trustees to further any of the charity's purposes. Designated funds are unrestricted funds earmarked by the trustees for particular future projects or commitments
Restricted funds are subject to restrictions on their expenditure declared by the donor or through the terms of an appeal and fall into one of two sub-classes: restricted income funds or endowment funds.
3.5
Income All incoming resources are included in the statement of financial activities when entitlement has passed to the charity; it is probable that the economic benefits associated with the transaction will flow to the charity and the amount can be reliably measured. The following specific policies are applied to particular categories of income:
-
Income from donations or grants is recognised when there is evidence of entitlement to the gift, receipt is probable and its amount can be measured reliably. Legacy income is recognised when receipt is probable and entitlement is established
-
Income from donated goods is measured at the fair value of the goods unless this is impractical to measure reliably, in which case the value is derived from the cost to the donor or the estimated resale value. Donated facilities and services are recognised in the accounts when received if the value can be reliably measured. No amounts are included for the contribution of general volunteers.
-
Income from contracts for the supply of services is recognised with the delivery of the contracted service. This is classified as unrestricted funds unless there is a contractual requirement for it to be spent on a particular purpose and returned if unspent, in which case it may be regarded as restricted.
3.6
Expenses and irrecoverable VAT Expenditure is recognised on an accruals basis as a liability is incurred. Expenditure includes any VAT which cannot be fully recovered, and is classified under headings of the statement of financial activities to which it relates:
-
Expenditure on raising funds includes the costs of all fundraising activities, events, non-charitable trading activities, and the sale of donated goods.
-
Expenditure on charitable activities includes all costs incurred by a charity in undertaking activities that further its charitable aims for the benefit of its beneficiaries, including those support costs and costs relating to the governance of the charity apportioned to charitable activities.
-
Other expenditure includes all expenditure that is neither related to raising funds for the charity nor part of its expenditure on charitable activities. All costs are allocated to expenditure categories reflecting the use of the resource. Direct costs attributable to a single activity are allocated directly to that activity. Shared costs are apportioned between the activities they contribute to on a reasonable, justifiable and consistent basis.
