THE A W LYMN CENTENARY FOUNDATION REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES YEAR ENDED 5 NOVEMBER 2023 Flnanclal Statements The trustees present their annual report and financial statements for the year ended 5 November 2023. structure Governance and Management The Charity was created by a Trust Deed dated 30 October 2007 which directs that the trust funds should be used for such charitable purposes as the trustees, in their absolute discretion, consider fit. The Trustees shall hold the capital and income of the Trust Fund upon trust lo apply the income, and all or such part or parts of the capitsl, at such time or times and in such manner to, or for the benefit of such exclusively charitable objects and purposes in any part of the world as the Trustees may in their discretion think fil. New trustees are appointed by a resolution of a meeting of the Trustees bul only with the consent of the Board of Directors of the Settlor Company whilst the Settior remains in existence. Objectives and Activities The sole objective and activity is the giving of grants. The trustees are aware that they must carry on the charity's activities for the public benefit and that they musl pay due regard lo the guidance on public benefit issued by the Charity Commission. They consider that the charity's aims and activities are for the public benefit since it is a grant making trust which gives only to either registered charities or needy individuals. Achievements and Perfomiance The income of the trust during the year was £32,02212022 - £32,228). In preparing these financial slalemenls, the Iruslees are required to.. select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consislenlly., observe the methods and principles in the Charities SORP 2019 IFRS 1021., make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent., stale whether applicable accounting standards have been followed, subject to any material departures disclosed and explained in the financial slalements., prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate lo presume that the oharily will continue in operation. The tnjstees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records that disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and enable them lo ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011, the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 and the provisions of the trust deed. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hen￿ for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities. Responsibilities and basis of report As the charity's trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordan￿ with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 {'Ihe Act'l. I report in respect of my examination of the charity's accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 14515llbl of the Act. Independent examinerfs statement I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect.. accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act,. or the accounts do not accord with those records- or the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and conlenl of accounts sel out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a 'lrue and fair view, which is not a maller considered as part of an independent examination. THE A W LYMN CENTENARY FOUNDATION NOTES TO THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS YEAR ENDED 5 NOVEMBER 2023 ACCOUNTING POLICIES BASIS OF PREPARATION OF FINANCIAL STATEMENTS The financial statements have been prepared in accordance wilh the Statement of Recommended Practice ISORPI "Accounting and Reporting by Charities" applicable lo charities preparing their accounts in accordan￿ with the Financial Reporting Slandard applicable in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland IFRS 102} 2019 (published October 2019), the Charities Act 2011 and applicable regulations. The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention with items recognised as cost or transaction value unless otherwise slated in the relevant notelsl lo the accounts. The trustees assess whether the use of going concern is appropriate i.e. whether there are any material uncertainties related to events or conditions that may cast significant doubl on the ability of the foundation lo continue as a going concern.
