Achievements and Performance

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 The charity continues to provide free
veterinary treatment for the animals in
Luxor. Most of the population of Luxor
are unable to pay for treatment for their
animals. The majority of animals treated
are working donkeys which are often the
only means of the owners making a
living. By ensuring the health of the
donkeys the owners are able to continue
to work them and provide for their
families.
Dogs are fitted with soft dog collars
which replace the often painful and
dangerous wire, chains or rope used by
the local owners.
The charity offers free spay and neuter
for dogs and cats to try to reduce the
population of neglected and mistreated
street animals.
Education sessions are carried out at the
veterinary centre to educate children on
the correct treatment of animals –
specifically dogs as they are the most
mistreated animal in Luxor.

Financial Review

Financial Review
Review of the charity’s
financial position at the end
of the period
Para 1.21 The charity ended the financial year with
much higher reserves than in previous
years due to a legacy from a supporter.
Statement explaining the
policy for holding reserves
stating why they are held
Para 1.22 The charity would normally hold reserves
of a year’s regular costs as it has not
been able to raise sufficient funds on a
monthly basis to cover those regular
outgoings. A generous legacy received in
December 2023 increased this amount
**considerably. **
Amount of reserves held Para 1.22 £303,949
Reasons for holding zero
reserves
Para 1.22
Details of fund materially in
deficit
Para 1.24
