Trevor Swgtg The trustees are sad to announce the passing of Trevor Swete on 4 October 2025. Trevor had been a trustee from the beginning of the trust, serving as a wise and diligent advisor aTrJ valued member of the group. OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES Con8tithlion, objectiV08 and alms of the charity The Roan Charitable Trust is constituted under a trust deed dated 24 January 2008 and wa5 registe￿d as a charity with Charity Commission for England and Wales on 18 February 2008. The objectives of the charity a￿ ta make grants for gen8ral charitable purpo68s. There were no restricted furbds held during the year or as at 31 March 2025. The charity derives its income from investment returns, which are then used to fund grants to other registe￿d charitable organisations. Public b•n•frt The truste85 confimi that they have referred to the guidance containgj in the Charity Commission'$ general guidance on publi¢ b•nefit when reviewing the charity's aims and objectives and in planning fvtur¢ a¢tlvities and sotting tho grant making policy for the year. Prncedures and pollcy for grantmaklng The charity's policy is lo make grant$ to regIStsr￿ ¢haritle$ In the fields of education, medical resoarch and oth8r ¢haritie$ that Can demon$lrat8 that tho grants will be used offo¢tivo1y. There is no formal grant application procedure. The trustees retain the seNices of a charitabl8 grant8 advisor and take account of the advice when deciding on grant8. During the year, tsyenty one grants amounting to £453,5C w•r8 made. ACHIEVEMEpifs AND PERFORMANCE Charltable activltlel During the year, the charity continued to 5UPPOrt chaiities which the trustees believed are able lo demonstrate that they Can utilise the funds effo¢tiv&ly. FINANCIAL REVIEW The current inveslmenl poli¢y is to ￿taIn some of the available funds on bank deposit in order lo meet the payment of grant8 which have previously been committed to registered charities. The remaining surplus funds are invested in listed In￿str￿ents and cash managed by HSBC UK Bank plc. In the year ended 31 March 2025, incoming resources amounted to £194.690 and resources expènded amounted to £540,329. At 31 March 2025, the charity had unrestricted funds amounting to £8,376,621. The trustees have reviewed the charity'5 needs for reserves in line with the guidance issued by the Charity Commission. The current policy of the chanty is to maintain al least suffi￿ent funds to meet grants over a period of five years taking a¢￿Unt of expected grants and administration costs. FUTURE PLANS The charity plans lo continue supporting national and local charities and will in future support those intornalional charities, which the trustees feel are organised to ulilise funds in an effective way. The charity is exempt from di￿¢1 taxation. The charity constitutes a publi¢ ￿nefit entity as defined by FRS 102. ACCOUNTING POLICIES Basis of preparing the financial statgrngnts The financial statements of the charity, which is a public benefit entity under FRS 102, have been prepared in accordance with the Charities SORP {FRS 102} 'Accounting and Reporting by Charities..
