Due to the nature of our clientele the trustees attempt to make our building. transport and octivlties as occessible as possible. For practical reasons we do r8strict the provision of Iransport primorily to Ihose resident in the town of Newport Pagnell. We are also aware of the need to ensure our seNices are offered at a price which is affordable to Ihose of limited financial resources. This is especially true in the case of our Day Cenlre where the eldest of our clientele experience some of the lowest charges in the area for this type of service. The trustees are mindful of the significant gronts received when providing Ihe new building and in assisting with the purchase of two minibuses, alongside the generous ongoing donations from groups and indlviduals wilhin the town. As well as providing funding these also acl as an encouragement to the Iruslees ond volunteers and remind us of the obligation we have to ensure we provide high qualily services for the benefit of the elderly of the lown. When space allows, we also make rooms ovailable for use by community groups and compatible services in the town. ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE As our main activity the Day Centre rneets three days a week and provides a meol ond a warm and welcoming atmosphere for clients. most ofwhom are in their 80's and 90's.' mosl live olone. The average age of our day cenlre members is now considerably higher than it wos o decade ago with three celebrating their I tK)Ih birthday in 2024. Our Day Centre manager and her exlensive team of volunteers do an excellent job in providing reassurance and friendship. We regularly receive feedback from members and their familie5 regarding the reol importance Brooklands plays in the live5 of many of our members. Our Iwo exercise classe5 remain very popular and have waiting li51s. The Tai-chi crosses operate with stable numbers. Our Tuesday Pop-ln refreshment continues ond the Blngo and Social Group has maintained the higher numbers seen during the previous year.. The Art Group meets twice a week and remains very successful. Our fortnightly Carers, Group remains strong. providing real encouragement to those who hove caring responsibilities al home. The main asset of the Centre is the group of seventy volunteers who give so lirelessly and cheerfully to create Ihe right atmosphere for our members. These generous people act as cooks. carers, drivers and escorts and are the lifeblood of the Cenlre. We hove a smoll bul sleady turnover of volunteers bul are generally able to attract new people lo join the 'Brooklands Family". This is partly atlributable to our website and social media presence which in recent years has made Brooklands more widely known within the town. It is difficult lo measure our achievements from year to year. It should not be undereslimated Ihot we are able to continue lo provide an extensive range of services cnd groups for Ihe elderly in the town at very reasonable prices. To have waiting lists for some groups is evidence of the level of demand and satisfaclion wilh our provision. Our greatest achievement is lo provide purpose and enjoyment to a considerable number of people in their80's ond 90's who would otherwise have a poorer quality of life and become more dependent on state services. All Ihis is achieved without any financial support from the public seclor. Current realisable assets amount to more thon £623.000, PLANS FOR FufuRE PERIODS The main objective of the truslees is to secure the continued provision of the services we provide to the elderly of the town. The trustees are aware that to do this we will rely heavily on the continuation of the level of voluntary support we receive. This is our main assel ond we do not fake il for granted.
