-
Treasurer (Simon) calls for (re-)election of Officers - same officers re-elected nem con
-
Treasurer's report (Simon – see separate Annual return & up to date budget report )
New Norfolk: Suffolk Music Hub now formed; AS to chase Tim Brain, because NMH funds only currently go up to March 2024 (should be July 20243- RR?).
Town Council Community Fund – AS & JS (CF supporting) ensured success (£1,100 – Drum kit & Residential subsidy + £750 to Thetford residents (only) – CF & RR hoped this would mean more joining TMP.
Breckland Community Fund - £3,600 grant to replace Shadwell Scholarship. FINAL REPORT now overdue – AS / CF to pass RR relevant ‘reduced fees’ info./wording £9-> £8 second instruments and second sibling discount etc.; and free instrument hire, repairs, for all.
Summer residential course – payments come via TMP a/c – all in order, and all but one has paid. AS to give SJS list of payees, & pay for volunteer lunches.
- Director’s report (Ann – see report to follow )
TMP now working with Drake Primary (via TTA) – Emma ______= contact
Helen Thomas-Jones leaving – RR to contact, and asked Ilona Hayes to thank her and Michael Fordham for hosting TMP at TTA
Norwich Road – demo and lessons offered: Keith teaches 7 keyboards, Jonathan Cushion had 2 (yr.1 & yr.4!!), endless issues with DBS. ID checks asked for each week (even though DBS asked for WEEKLY – and now at TTA). AS to check all tutors DBSed.
Numbers more buoyant (88+), parents and tutors seem happy (too many taking leave, and not finding Deps – AS landed…)
- Secretary’s report (Jane gave apologies, so free discussion on these topics)
Discussion re: applications, and admin. issues:
-
parents encouraged to visit TMP and/or trial lessons, understand the nature of the Club, then sign up – see 100 Club below;
-
sign-in issues: laptop needs resetting, and JS very kindly offered to look at it and offered to liaise with MS to pick it up. Invoicing fine, but sometimes a delay; parents offering to pay fees need to be able to pay then and there, if they wish to (AS to talk with MS about this). BACS payments

25[th] Anniversary: long live music in Thetford!
half-termly preferable, in advance. (JS suggested signage on the door to encourage on the door payments for overdue fee-payers.)
5. Hundred Club & other Administrative issues ( Corinne )
RR now signed up to card, then online banking on a/c; card protocols CF to pursue, and RR to complete.
To arrest decline in Hundred Club numbers, CF will design wording to go on TMP application form so ‘opt-in’ parents receive a call from CF to explain Hundred Club mechanisms and USPs!
Patron – Duke of Grafton – important to honour our obligations, and CF keen that we bullet-point what we will do, once website updated.
Red Rooster date for 2025 – AS and JS to plan ensembles – esp. residential rock band, alumni (see below*), at the Summer residential next week.
CF suggested perhaps an invitation to the Duke to see the Club in action, see work in progress, and how we work – 5-6pm Monday Club nights – CF to organise.
6. Tutor rep. ( Jon )
JS kindly offered to sort instrument cupboard, poss. over the summer/ early Autumn – as well as supporting Ann with ensemble work during Christmas Concert, re-setting the admin laptop etc.
7. Chair ( Robert )
RR to add SJS as Administrator to CC site.
RR to email Lydia (cc AS) for website updates – important as applications result from it. She is still generously willing to update – RR asked AS to pass on Trustees’ appreciation.
25[th] Anniversary Christmas Concert Saturday 7[th] December, 2024 Carnegie Rooms booked – AS stressed this needs to be of a standard and involving all; JS again raised the ‘ensemble’ solution to involve all members, as well as Alumni who have offered to join in, do a short solo*.
Agreed that AS and he to look at timetabling, and possible arrangements.
RR offered to talk to JR (former Director) about the sort of arrangements (and logistics) that have worked well in the past. (DONE: JR to contact AS with ideas, as required.)
NB Jessica Hendry (in touch with RR last December and definitely keen), Polina Sosnina (via JS – ditto ); Sam Trayton (JS), Eliot Saunders* (AS) would also be keen, potentially to help with Red Rooster and Christmas Celebration Concert.
AOB - none
Proposed dates of 2024-25 meetings:
