I report on the accounts of the Trust for the year ended 31 March 2021, which are set out on pages 2 to 4.

Respective responsibilities of the trustees and examiner

As the Charity’s Trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the Accounts. The trustees have adopted the provisions of the Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) "Accounting and Reporting by Charities" issued in March 2005 in preparing the annual report and financial statements of the charity.

It is my responsibility to state, on the basis of procedures specified in the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners, whether particular matters have come to my attention.

Basis of independent examiner’s report

My examination was carried out in accordance with the Statement of Standards for Reporting Accountants. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity, and making such limited enquiries of the officers of the charity as we considered necessary for the purpose of the report. procedures provide only the assurance expressed in our opinion.

It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as Trustees concerning any such matters.

The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently, I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.

Independent examiner’s statement

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:

  1. which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements: to keep accounting records in accordance with SORP, to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and to comply with the accounting requirements. have not been met: or

  2. to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

1 Accounting policies

1.1 Basis of preparation of financial statements

The financiial statements of the charity are prepared in accordance with the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2005 and the Statement of Recommended Practice Accounting & Reporting by Charities' issued in 2005 and with applicable accounting standards. These accounts are prepared under the historical cost convention and include the results of the charity's operations which are described in the Trustee's Report and all of which are continuing.

1.2 Donations and fund accounting funds

Donations received for the general aims of the Charity are included as unrestricted funds. Donations restricted by the wishes or aims of the donor are classified as “restricted”.

1.3 Resources expended

Resources expended are included in the Statement of Financial Activities on a payments basis, inclusive of any irrecoverable VAT.

1.4. Movements in shareholders funds

Yewdale Counselling Services is a private company limited by guarantee without a share capital and therefore there are no shareholders funds.

Debtors

Short term debtors are measured at transaction price (which is usually the invoice price), less any impairment losses for bad and doubtful debts. Loans and other financial assets are initially recognised at transaction price including any transaction costs and subsequently measured at amortised cost determined using the effective interest method, less any impairment losses for bad and doubtful debts.

Creditors

Short term creditors are measured at transaction price (which is usually the invoice price). Loans and other financial liabilities are initially recognised at transaction price net of any transaction costs and subsequently measured at amortised cost determined using the effective interest method.
