AHDT is a non-partisan voluntary charity that works to facilitate the development and provision of health care in African communities, focusing currently on northern Nigeria. Some of our activities include the acquisition and supply of medical equipment to health centres, transfer of medical skills and knowledge through training and mentoring, and provision of pro- bono medical services by members. |
|---|---|
| Since the Coronavirus pandemic and its aftermath, AHDT has not engaged in its usual medical outreach programmes in the past few years. However, it regularly partners with a local charity on the gound in Northern Nigeria, the Foundation for Refugee Economic Empowerment (FREE) to provide targeted interventions to disadvantaged people going through difficult times, e.g., flood relief and donation of medicines. During the year, through the generosity of its donors/patrons, AHDT disbursed a total of£40,000.00to two orphanages in Northern Nigeria, which continue to impact on the lives of orphaned children through provision of shelter, feeding and education. We also confirm that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit. |

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S REPORT ON THE FINANCIAL STATEMENT FOR THE PERIOD FROM 1ST APRIL 2023 TO 31ST MARCH 2024
I report on the accounts of the Trust for the year ended 31[st] March 2024, which are set out on pages 3 to 6 .
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year (under Section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the Act) and that an independent examination is needed. It is my responsibility to:
-
i. Examine the accounts under Section 145 of the Act.
-
ii. Follow the procedures laid down in the general directives given by the Charity Commission under Section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act; and
-
iii. To state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of Independent Examiner’s Report
My examination was carried out in accordance with the general directives given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosure in the accounts and seeking explanation from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the account.
Independent Examiner’s Statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
-
which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements:
-
a) to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the Act; and
-
b) to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the Act
-
have not been met; or
-
to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
