The AGM was well attended and feedback from participants was very positive io glowkng. 2.4. Much to the pleasure of attendees. the reduced restrctlo8 in the UK allowed the annual march of Remembran¢e at the Cenotaph in London, The South Atlantic Mcdal Association 1982 was well represenied by its unique membership of the Roy&l Navy, Arnly, Royal Air Force, Royal Fltti AXIliary. Merchant Navy. Civil Servants. Hon8 Kong Chinu¢ and do¢ky8rd support workers who aided preparaiion of ships for sea. 2.10. We now l¢Jok forward 10 2022. a momenious antjiversary year with our youn8esi beneficiaries approaehin8 60 ye8rs of age and our ¢ld¢st lW in their eighties. Hopefully the Air Brid8e the Faikland Islanth will reopen fully in 2022. A finil"UK Ride of R¢$p¢ct" by th¢ Aitborn¢ Riders will lake place during 2022, tsking in many of the graves and memorials to the fallen in 1982. When ¢ondition$ allow, a 5imilaT event will be comple¢ed in the Falklands Islands on lan¢L and at so to those who have no know byave. These events ar¢ self•SUPPQrtin& enabled by the gen¢n)sity of &Trnations, with the residue presented to SAMA 82. 2.1 l. The RBL National Memorial Arboretum event on 14 June 2022 is a key nh)ment when the Freedom of Stanl¢y and The Tralkland Islands Is 8Lfted to South Atlantic Medal Holders. If this facility w&5 cli)s¢d to the association, it would clearly b¢ a huge 5el-back for the organization and for those in need of help. Unfortunately. such decisions are often embedded in political expediency, and it will be difficult for SAMA io influence out¢omes. Nevejtheless. we ontinue to tsik hamloniously with the veterdns. minister over the continuation of this much appreciated facility and, so far. the MOD h&$ tsken gre•1 care to enable best use of the flight facility by Souih Atlantic veterans. 2020 however brought the routin¢ access lo islaThts to a halt.
