2.2. Out focus was to hold an AGM by remote means thm'n8 2021. The whole Board of Tru5tee5, plus our part tkrne administration
employtts, were involved in this novel meth(Ki of runntng an AGM. As we Iwi not held an AGM in the year 2020, a double
eeting was held to cover both 2020 and 2021. Only a few members do not have an email addTess. The association has
therefore been able to promulgate th¢ k¢y writt¢D rwrts in a timely fathi.on and with significanl Content. The cost savings in
both trees and Money was consid¢rdbl¢.
2.3. The AGM was well attended and feedback from participants was very positive io glowkng.
2.4. The proposed change to the articles and memorandurn perniittin8 the terni'lneetin8" to be used for remote particiption
meetings passed by a unanimous vole.
2.5. Each trustee Teported a scripted section of the Tel￿ and could be lThrd and seen by the remote participants. This enabled the
members to meet their elected trusttt and stt them perfom) part of their fijnctions. A feedback method enabled contributions
frorn th¢ participants in the followin8 open fotwn. Questions from our members and beneficiaries were encouraged in
advanee and sent in prior to the me¢iing for infom)atioo Answers were scripted and then explained by tach preseniin8 truslee.
2.6. TNsiees who were co-opted in 2020 offered th¢nwlv¢s for election. These weTe Joe Locke, Chris Howc MBE. Tim Lewis
and Stephen Penfold. Four other ttuste¢s. requir¢d to rettr¢ at the AGM in 2020 and 2021 or for t￿on5 of age were re-
elected. They were Derek Cole. Chris Joncs. Paul Hollin8. and Andrew tA)ckett.
2.7. Most of the planning and preparaiion h&4 ittvolved the 40" Annivcrsw in 2022 of th¢ South Atlanti¢ Conflict and the
commemoratson events boih small and laTge. Th¢ AsyKiation will also c¢l¢bTrt¢ 15 years r¢gi8tered Chatity and 25 y¢a

2.8. Of the combined events during Falklands 40. mosi will takc place in eollaboration with parfn¢r organisation$, such as The
Falkland Islands Government o￿lee in London, The Falkland Islands Lw"slative Council some 80(M) rniles away and the
Royul British Legion in ihe UK.
2.9. Much to the pleasure of attendees. the reduced restrctlo￿8 in the UK allowed the annual march of Remembran¢e at the
Cenotaph in London, The South Atlantic Mcdal Association 1982 was well represenied by its unique membership of the Roy&l
Navy, Arnly, Royal Air Force, Royal Fltti A￿XIliary. Merchant Navy. Civil Servants. Hon8 Kong Chinu¢ and do¢ky8rd
support workers who aided preparaiion of ships for sea.
2.10. We now l¢Jok forward 10 2022. a momenious antjiversary year with our youn8esi beneficiaries approaehin8 60 ye8rs of age and
our ¢ld¢st l￿W in their eighties. Hopefully the Air Brid8e ￿ the Faikland Islanth will reopen fully in 2022. A finil"UK Ride
of R¢$p¢ct" by th¢ Aitborn¢ Riders will lake place during 2022, tsking in many of the graves and memorials to the fallen in
1982. When ¢ondition$ allow, a 5imilaT event will be comple¢ed in the Falklands Islands on lan¢L and at so to those who have
no know byave. These events ar¢ self•SUPPQrtin& enabled by the gen¢n)sity of &Trnations, with the residue presented to SAMA
82.
2.1 l. The RBL National Memorial Arboretum event on 14 June 2022 is a key nh)ment when the Freedom of Stanl¢y and The
Tralkland Islands Is 8Lfted to South Atlantic Medal Holders. The recipients. llot Ollly include the living, but a150 those killed-ill-

announ¢cd in due course. Nexi of kn'n will bc abk to apply for the award certifi￿te for those killed-in-action, and those who
have died sin￿.
2.12. With 20 years left, until 2042 when SAMA82 is plaDD¢d to ¢los¢. th¢ ITr￿1￿5 aim lo achieve a vigorous progrnm of car¢.
support, and comradeship for the veterans of 1982.
2.13. A serious questt'on has been raised at previous AGMS ￿ to whether SAMA82 should continue, in a nM)dified forni. run by our
de5¢¢ndants. The chan"iable purp05cs would be specifically modified to meet the needs of those with intcrest in the South
Atlanti¢, and the welfare of descendants of 1982 veterdns. A wider discussion is lleeth￿ and there would have to be a
transition toward5 8n increasing number of tr￿￿te wsts held by our de5cethts.
2.14. May I convey the best wishes of tr￿e¢S and m¢mb¢ts of SAMA82 to th¢ South Atlantic frat¢rnity and wish you all well on
this 40th Anniversary.

3.1. The Govcrning Documcnt {Arti¢les and MemoraNlum} w&s changed in a unanimous vote ai the AGM for 201912020 held on
the ApTiI 2021. The changes were xcepted by CornwdtU&8 Ho￿￿e and the Chan'ty Commi$5ion. The ¢hange enabled trustees
to hold meeting via remote atrdD8ements. It also enabled the AGM atKi EGMS to be held within th¢ same facility and
arrangement. The Covid 2019 iufection proTnpted this chauge wkn.ch for llwiy OT8awsatioDs improved effici¢ncy, r¢dllc¢d
