Trustee's Annual Report for the year ending 31st March 2021

Public Benefit

For the benefit of the public in relieving the suffering of unwanted or abandoned dogs in our local area.

Risk Management

The organisation has policies and procedures in place to reduce the risks to the charity and it's members (in terms of fraud, error and claims etc) to an acceptable operating level.

The Trustees who served during the year were : -

Ms Rosie Stephenson Chairperson & Dog Co-ordinator Ms Ria Boyce Dave Fernley appointed May 2020 Dianne Illingworth appointed May 2020 Mrs Sarah Lally-Marley resigned May 2020

Trustees Report on Activities for 2020/21.

The 2020/21 year has seen many changes for Ryedale Dog Rescue. The start of 2020 saw the resignations of three of our long standing trustees. Jackie Bath & Linda Nellis in January and then Sarah Lally-Marley resigned from their roles and we thank them for all their support and dedication over many years. Dave Fernley and Dianne Illingworth who both have been long-time supporters of RDR then took on the roles of trustees and we look forward to a bright future.

Like many charities this year our face to face fundraising literally stopped overnight with the first Covid lockdown being announced and following the government's advice we stopped all re-homing of the dogs in our care in order to stay within the guidelines announced. Our fundraising team pulled together and came up with many new and inventive ideas for online fundraising such as raffles, auctions and even an online dog-show. We greatly benefitted from the fund raised by the now famous Stall on the Wall where donated items were sold on behalf of the charity by the wonderful Wheldon family.

We are incredibly lucky to secure grants from The Kennel Club, Animal Friends, Support Adoption for Pets (Pets at Home), Battersea Dogs Home and Marshall Viggars which not only helped cover boarding and veterinary fees during the Covid lockdowns but have also allowed us to purchase new equipment such as a gazebo, banner etc for our fundraising stalls when we can get out for face to face fundraising again. A new website, the purchase of a new laptop and Office 365 for all our post holders within the charity means that we are in a strong position and ready to get out and about again to promote RDR and the work that we do - now restrictions are lifting.

None of this would have been possible without the dedication of our volunteers who have pulled together and not only supported the charity but also each other in these unprecedented times. We are in a secure financial position going into the 2021/22 year and look forward with enthusiasm to making the charity even bigger and better.

RYEDALE DOG RESCUE

Independent Examiners Report to the trustees for the year ended 31st March 2021.

I report on the accounts of Ryedale Dog Rescue for the year ended 31st March 2021 as set out on pages 1 to 5.

Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner

The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 (2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the "2011 Act") and that an independent examination is needed.

It is my responsibility to:

Basis of independent examiner's report

My examination was carried out in accordance with the general directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair' view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.

Independent examiner's statement

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention

have not been met; or
