| SORP reference | ||
|---|---|---|
| Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. |
Para 1.20 | 1. The Trust supported the creation of a new International NGO in Tanzania to enable the project to expand across Tanzania and East Africa. 2. The Trust was re-registered as SAFI (Seeing Ability First International) and its objects revised to support work in East Africa 3. Because of the spread of Covid in Tanzania, and the consequential sharp decline in tourists visiting the workshop, the Trust held a campaign which raised £27,126 to enable staff in Iringa to make and donate PPE to local Health institutions. This ensured continuing employment of tailors with disabilities and the broader support of Public Health in Tanzania. 4. A Grant of £75,000 was received to enable the project to develop further in East Africa. Some of this was used to begin developing online marketing, and to investigate opening a shop in Dar es Salaam. 5. £22,502 was received to support the running costs of the Project and £4,239 to support the provision of housing, Football and the maintenance of tricycles for people with disabilities |
