The trustees who are also Directors of the charity for the purpose of the Companies Act 2006, present their report with financial statements of the charity for the year ended 30 September 2023.
The trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporting: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to Charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019) This is the seventeenth year that the society has existed as a company.
Objectives and aims
The objects are to promote for the benefit of the public, agriculture, horticulture, forestry, and rural crafts and skills in all their branches by the improvement of livestock including horses and the demonstration and showing of livestock, machinery, crafts, products, methods and processes connected with agriculture and agricultural education
The principal activity of the company is that of operating as an agricultural society and the organising of the fundraising events to help finance the annual show. The society also distributed some of any surplus to local charities. The company was set up in October 2006 to take over the activities, which had existed for many years.
Volunteers
Whilst the trustees approve the direction of the society, especially the annual show, it relies on the work of the committee members to set up the show. A major objective of using volunteers is to involve as many of the local community as possible

It is the policy of the company to maintain unrestricted funds to cover the cost of days cancelled due to bad weather

Accountants' Report
Report to the directors on the preparation of the unaudited statutory financial statements of HUBY AND SUTTON-ON-THE-FOREST AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY LIMITED (the company) for the year ended 30 September 2023.
In order to assist you to fulfil your duties under the Companies Act 2006, we have prepared for your approval the financial statements of the company for the year ended 30 September 2023 which comprise the Profit and Loss accounts, the Balance Sheet and the related notes from the company's accounting records and from information and explanations you have given to us.
As a practising member firm of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, we are subject to its ethical and other professional requirements which are detailed at https://www.cimaglobal.com.
This report is made solely to the directors of the company, as a body, in accordance with the terms of our engagement letter. Our work has been undertaken solely to prepare for your approval the financial statements of the company and state those matters that we have agreed to state to the directors of the company, as a body, in this report in accordance with the requirements of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants as detailed at https://www.cimaglobal.com. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we do not accept or assume responsibility to anyone other than the company and its directors, as a body, for our work or for this report.
It is your duty to ensure that the company has kept adequate accounting records and to prepare statutory financial statements that give a true and fair view of the assets, liabilities, financial position and profit or loss of the company. You consider that the company is exempt from the statutory audit requirement for the year.
We have not been instructed to carry out an audit or review of the financial statements of the company. For this reason, we have not verified the accuracy or completeness of the accounting records or information and explanations you have given to us and we do not, therefore, express any opinion on the financial statements.

The company is a private company limited by guarantee and registered in England and Wales. It was entitled to exemption from audit under section 477 of the Companies Act 2006 relating to small companies.
The members have not required the company to obtain an audit in accordance with section 476 of the Companies Act 2006.
The Directors acknowledge their responsibilities for complying with the requirements of the Act with respect to accounting records and the preparation of accounts.
These accounts have been prepared in accordance with the micro-entity provisions and delivered in accordance with the provisions applicable to companies subject to the small companies regime.
