Achlevements and performance Cancer Connections continues to eXperIen hlgh demand for Its services which, inevitably, incurs an Increa* in expenditure. However, thanks to the continued financial support of the local community and an Increase In the grant from the local NHS authorlty, funds carried forward at the year-end were not materlally different from the prevlous year thus malntalnlng the secure financial position of the charity. Flnanclal revlew Incomlng Resour5 The charity relles on grant funding and donations In order to assist it In achlevlng Its objectives. During the year Income received from donations and grants totalled £99,364. Wlthin the period the charlty also reiVed income of £74,208 from varlous other sources. Cancer Q)nnections Llmlted would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those organlsatlons whlch provlded funding and donations during the year, as well as those others who have provided financlal support. The trustees believe that the company should hold financlal reserves In order to ensure that the charlty can contlnue to operate and meet the needs of clients In the event of unforeseen and potentially financially damaging circumstances arising.lt has tsken into account the reliability and Continuan of future funding, timing of cash flows and working capitsl requirements, cover for unplanned emergency repairs and potential liabilities relating to staff should there be closure of a particular activity. The trustees consider therefore that It would be prudent to set aside a reserves policy of £lOO,000 equivalent to 6 months running costs, Reserves Durlng the year the total funds of the charitsble company amounted to £794,759 of which £354,705 is invested in fixed assets (the charltles owned property) which are held in a designated capital reserve Free Reserves The free reseNes of the trust amount to £440,054 which is felt to be sufficient to meet the charity's reseNe requirement and sustsin the trust's expenditure in the immediate future.
