FUNDS HAVE BEEN RAISED FOR THE PURCHASE OF THE CASTLE AND ITS SURROUNDING EARTHWORKS. PURCHASE WAS COMPLETED ON 15.09.2008 AND WORK HAS BEGUN TO REPAIR THE MONUMENT SO AS TO MAKE IT AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC. THIS HAS BEEN POSSIBLE LARGELY AS A CONSEQUENCE OF GRANTS FROM HERITAGE LOTTERY FUND AND ENGLISH HERITAGE, PLUS SHROPSHIRE COUNCIL. COMPLETION OF WORKS WAS SCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER 2011.

Objects: To Preserve For The Benefit Of The People Of Shropshire And Of The Nation At Large, The Historical, Architectural And Constructional Heritage That May Exist In And Around Hopton Castle In Buildings (Including Any Building As Defined In Section 336 Of The Town And Country Planning Act 1990) Of Particular Beauty Or Historical, Architectural Or Constructional Interest.
