METHOD OF APPOINTMENT OR ELECTION OF TRUSTEES rhe management of the company is the responsibility of the Twstees who are elected and co-opted under the terms of the Charity Commission Scheme. L ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE AND OECISION MAKING The Board of Trustees and Officers meet at least ten times a year. For the year ènded 31 March 2023 PROfjRAMME RELATED INVESTMENTS The Chief Executive conrinues to strengthen the network of supporting local businesses that not onty provide financial support but lugistical services alongside additional help to promote the charity. In addition, the Chief Executive builds on relationships wth projert partner organisations to improve nd ensure opportunities for future developments. d. VOLUNTEERS BYHP'S stoff team is complemented by a dedicated ieam of volunteers who promde a range of support services. These include a range of placement therapy counsellors who support the mental health team on a weekty basis. Several volunteer5 provide weekly support processing, restocking, and collecting items foi our loodbank. Other volunteers provide logistical assistance on an 3d hoc basis, helping with events and fundraising. We are extremely gratèful to all our volunteers for the pnormr)us role they play towards helping v5 build and sustain excdlenl sevvices. ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE . fjOINfj CONCERN After making appropriate enquiries. the Tw5tees have a reasonable eypectstion that the company has adequate resources to continue in operational existence in the future. F this reason. they continue to adopt the going concern basis in prepaiing the financial statements. Further details regarding the adoption of the going concern basis can be found in the Accounting Policies. b. REVIEW OF AcrniiTIES Despite coming through ihe Coronaviws pandemic and day-to-day societal activities returning to normal, we have not seen a signrficant decline in the demand lor mental health seryices and support during the period under review. BYHP has continued to provide all its seNces, both virtually and face-to-face, to young people and their families. During the year under review, BYHP provided 2.973 one-to-one support sessions io Young People and delivered a series of group sessions to 6 local schools with group sizes ranging from 12 to 6 participants. A wide range of subject matters were tackled over a period of 6 weeks Iper school). Mental Healih issues are still the biggest demand for the charitys seryices, and we delivered 1,526 hours of mental well-being support to Young People. There have been several noteworthy changes this year with both staff and projects. Our Back on Track project, which supported 15-17-year-olds at rtsk of not continuing in education or mowng into employment, ended in December. We saw the end of the Mental Health Academy project at the same tirne. This year, we s?w ovr Mental Health Manager complete a year-long Institute of Leadership and Management apprenticeship ILeve] 3), and our WellbLyng Practitioner completed her Level 2 Coungelling Certificate and has been accepted onto the Level 3 iourse_ All staff have access tD a wide range of CPD courses, eLearning certilicates, and training is remewed in every supervision session. FUNDRAISNG AcnviTIESIINCOME GENERATION B YHP draws upon a diverse range of income from Trusts. Foundations, company giving, regular donor giving and public sector contracts. In addition, the BYHP team attend local events to raise the profile of the charity and support its fundraising artivities. Any funds raised that are unrestricted are savÈd as rexervÈs wherever possible, and 8YHP is aiming to complete restoration and maintain its reseeS to the desired level. For the year ended 31 March 2023 FINANCIAL REVIEW RESERVES POLICY It 15 the policy of the chaTlty to maintain sufficient unrestricted re5erve5 to provide for charitable expenditure so that BYHP can continue to meet its objeclives for a PEriod ot l O month5 il 311 or most of its income ceases. Our policy is to build he3hY reserves, and to this end, any operating svrplus achieved in any one year is re-invested in the charity and maintalning its service provision for the ber)efit of Young People accessing our services. b. REVIEW OF THE YEAR The Charity has negotiated its way through ihe year. recording an operating deficit of £34,197 12022,. £13,120 surplu51 from an income of £369.486 (2022; £364,322). The Trustees are grateful io all membeis of slaff in meeting the operational challenges throughovt the year in support of Young People who Ore still suffering the consequences of the pandemic and Lockdowns. c. PLANS FOR THE FUTURE Our Fundraising & Communications Officer will continue to build on fundraising targets, locating funding opporlunilies to ensure the continualion ol vilal services nexl year and beyond. We will be looking to recruit a new Marketing Apprentice to build the charity's online profile. We have a wide range of stakeholders. so a vaned but iobust digttal presence is vital to inspile action and support for our objectives as well as encourage potential donors and volunteers. Grants and Twsts utilise social media accounts to support decision-making when rewewing applications, so it 15 Vltally important that we focus on growing and improwno this area of opelations. With poor Mental Health being a global crisis and our counselling waiting list being the largest of our service request5, we will be focusing on building our Placement Therapy team to offer more sUPPOrt sessions and bring the waiting time down significantly. Mental Heafth issues are a major root cause of youth homelessness. sa it is important to BYHP that we provide as many early interventions as possible. Accounting Pofiaes (a) Basis of Atcountillg BYHP constitutes a public benefit as defined by FRS 102. The accounts have been prepared in accordance with Accounting and Reporting by Charhties: Ststement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounls in accordance with the Financial Reporting Stand3Td applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 {effective l January 20191, the Ch3rittes Act 2011 and the Companie5 Act 2006. The Trustees consider that there are no material uncertainties about the charity's ability to continue as going-concern. The financial staternent5 are presented in sterling which is the fvnctional currency ol the charity and rounded to the nearest £.
