Section C Objectives and activities
| Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit) |
The purpose of the charity is to provide a link between parents and the school by organising appropriate activities. The charity’s objectives are to advance the education of the pupils in the school, in particular by: Developing effective relationships between staff, parents and others associated with the school; and Engaging in activities or providing facilities or equipment which support the school and advance the education of the pupils. |
|---|---|
| Our activities this year included the hosting of various fundraising events in order to raise funds to support these objectives. These events included staff, parents and pupils. We provide funds for a range of equipment to the school for the use and education of its pupils. This equipment, which would otherwise not be available and is considered to be “luxury” to the normal school expenditure, benefits the pupils and will continue to provide benefits in the coming years. In planning our activities for the year we kept in mind the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit at our trustee meetings |

Section D Achievements and performance
Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year
- The charity held a number of fundraising events in the year including: Quiz night Fireworks evening Christmas tree lighting Wreath making Ball
These events, the majority of which are successful annual events, resulted in the charity raising funds to be used for the purposes of the charity.
In addition, the charity runs a popular second-hand uniform shop, providing parents with the option of selling and purchasing second-hand uniforms whilst raising additional funds for the charity.
Unfortunately the impact of Coronavirus resulted in other annual events usually held in the Spring and Summer terms, such as a party for the pupils of the prep school, being cancelled. Our aim is to hold these events again once it is safe to do so.
Our accounts for the year include cash receipts totalling £10,079 relating to events held in the previous financial year.
In the year ended 31 August 2020 we were delighted to be able to provide Edgbaston High School for Girls with funding, or approve future funding, for the following: A new playground for the Prep school Computing equipment for the Music department A contribution to a new piano Purchase and hire of theatre equipment for a school production A Green Screen for use in the Prep school Library books and year books
