During this account year PORT has sourced and Funded two Research projects, both having passed scrutiny of the Medical Peer advisory panel of Bowel Research UK (BRUK).
The BRUK panel supports PORT to ensure only the best research with the most potential to provide positive outcomes are funded.
The research projects PORT funded this year are geared towards both Adult and Paediatric sufferers.

This research to be conducted by Dr Katherine Twist and her team is the first time that PORT has funded research aimed at Patient’s mental health instead of Physical health.
Patients that suffer from this cruel illness can develop Mental health issues that then can impact on their wellbeing.

Great Ormond Street Hospital is the main Paediatric centre in the UK for children suffering with Paediatric Intestinal Pseudo Obstruction and Dysmotility, (PIPO/Dysmotility).
PORT is pleased to have formed important links to GOSH and to be funding this research project for them.

Managernent and governance The tnjst deed stipulated the first Trustees, who continue 10 Serve. There must be at least three Truslees. Were there a requirement lor new frustees. these would be identified and appointed by the remaining Trustees. In selectinE individuals for appoiiitment 35 TrLlStee5, Ihe Trustees must have re8ard to the skills, knowledge and experience needed for the effective administration of the Trust. A new Trustee will be indLlCted into the TrLtst by the existing Trustee5.
