Achievements and Performance

1. Students & Staff

2. Premises

The school has continued its cooperation with Bishop Ullathorne Catholic School in Coventry. We continue to use Bishop Ullathorne premises on Thursday and Saturday and have extended the number of classrooms to cater for additional demand. From May to July we teached online.

3. Exam Results

One of the key objectives of the school is preparation for the Polish GCSE and A level examinations. In previous years we have achieved excellent results and this trend continues. This year 18 students sat the GCSE exam, all achieving 8/9 and 7/9 grades. 13 students sat the A level exam and 8 achieved A and A* grades, 5 achieved B grade. These are results that will contribute to the UCAS points required for students considering further study at university.

4. Events & Fundraising

Parents, teachers and students have taken part in a number of cultural and educational events, supporting the functioning of the school and also involvement in wider cultural activities of the Polish Community in Coventry. Key events included:

-15 September - Ecumenical Celebration at Nuneaton cemetery to remember the Polish, British and German soldiers who lost their lives in WWII.

A number of the events above involved fundraising for the school. Since the end of March all our events have been cancelled due to Covid-19 epidemic. Some of the events we presented as a film, made by individuals online.

The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair’ view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.

Polish Parents Association Notes to the Accounts For the year ended 31st August 2020

1 General information

Polish Parents Association is a charity registered and domiciled in England. Its principal activity is to operate as a school. Its principal address is The Presbytery, Springfield Road, Coventry , CV1 4GR.

2 Accounting policies

Basis of accounting policies

The financial statements are prepared,on a going concern basis, under the historical cost convention as with applicable accounting standards.

The reporting currency is UK £ Sterling.

Going Concern

The trustees considers that there are no material uncertainties about the charities ability to continue as a going concern. There are no material uncertainties affecting the current year’s accounts.

Revenue Recognition

All incoming resources are recognised once the charity has entitlement to the resources, it is probable (more likely than not) that the resources will be received and the monetary value of incoming resources can be measured with sufficient reliability.

Where there are terms or conditions attached to incoming resources, such as parental contributions paid in advance of the school year, then the terms or conditions must be met before the income is recognised as the entitlement condition will not be satisfied until that point. Where terms or conditions have not been met or uncertainty exists as to whether they can be met then the relevant income is not recognised in the year but deferred and shown on the balance sheet as deferred income.

Creditors

Creditors are amounts owed by the charity. They are measured at the amount that the charity expects to have to pay to settle the debt.

Amounts which are owed in more than a year are shown as long term creditors.
