Activities

The Mountain Trust concentrates on education, health and human rights in Nepal. It sponsors students through education, broadcasts radio-based education and sends volunteers and interns to work in Nepal. It broadcasts civic education and participates in human and civic rights education. It also assists Afghans fleeing the Taliban to escape to second and third countries.

Objects: 1) The Relief Of Poverty, Hardship And Distress And The Protection Of Good Health Within Nepal, By Such Exclusively Charitable Means As The Trustees Shall From Time To Time Determine, In Particular But Not By Way Of Limitation By The Establishment, Maintenance And Operation Of Clinics And Associated Advisory Services On Health, Contraception And Fertility. 2) The Relief Of Financial Need And Suffering Among Victims, In Or From Nepal, Of Natural Or Other Kinds Of Disaster In The Form Of Money (or Other Means Deemed Suitable) For Persons, Bodies And / Or Organisations Affected (including The Provision Of Medical Aid). 3) The Advancement Of Education In Nepal By The Provision Or Assistance With The Provision Of Educational Facilities, Equipment And Materials Or By Such Other Exclusively Charitable Means As The Trustees Shall From Time To Time Determine. 4) To Promote Human Rights In Afghanistan (as Set Out In The Universal Declaration Of Human Rights And Subsequent United Nations Conventions And Declarations) By All Or Any Of The Following Means:i) Relieving Need Among The Victims Of Human Rights Abuse;ii) Promoting Equality And Diversity Through The Assistance Of Victims Of Human Rights Abuse; Andiii) Raising Awareness Of Human Rights Issues.in Furtherance Of That Object But Not Otherwise, The Trustees Shall Raise Funds In The UK For The Benefit Of Individuals Who Are Victims Of Human Rights Abuses. These Funds Will Be Used Exclusively To Organise Rescue And Relief Aid, To Provide Financial Assistance And To Perform Such Other Lawful Activities That May Assist The Victims Of Human Rights Abuse To Leave Afghanistan And Seek Asylum In A Suitable Host Nation.[in Addition And In Furtherance Of That Object, But Not Otherwise The Trustees Shall Have The Power To Engage In Political Activities Provided That The Trustees Are Satisfied That The Proposed Activities Will Further The Purposes Of The Charity To An Extent Justified By The Resources Committed And The Activity Is Not The Dominant Means By Which The Charity Carries Out Its Objects].
