SORP reference

achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 In 2020, the Trust continued maintained its
strong focus on fundraising to pay off the loans
on the new Archive Building and the target of
£185,605 – this was their key objective to ensure
the repayment plan was achieved.
Due to COVID restrictions the Archive could not
be opened to the public throughout 2020 nor
could it attend any of the regular public shows
for fundraising activities as these were also
cancelled.
To maintain regular contact with the Rootes
community the Trust produced a newsletter
called “Rootes Gazette” which is published as an
e-book on a bi-monthly basis. This has been well
received.
Recognising the isolation some people were
experiencing during lockdown and to support
old Rootes employees and older enthusiasts the
circulation was increased to include these non-
members.
This action was warmly welcomed and has
resulted in a high level of engagement from this
group
During the year the Trust continued to supply
technical drawings and Heritage certificates to
Rootes car owners, and the number of requests
was increased.
At the end of 2020 the Trust fundraising activity
had resulted in the Trust being able to repay
another £32,095 of the original loans.
The Trust have until the middle of 2022 to repay
them so repayment is in line with the planned
repayment schedule.
