Chair's Report Year ended 31 August 2024

The main aim of the Parents Association is to raise funds that are to be utilised for the children and school, enhancing the children’s experiences at Bancroft’s. I am delighted to report the Bancroft’s Parents Association had a very eventful and successful year.

The hard work, dedication and commitment of an enthusiastic, proactive team, made of officers, full members, co-opted members/ friends of the PA ensured we hosted a large variety of events that brought together our whole school community including children, families and staff throughout the year and raised funds.

The volunteers and members together with the officers form the epicentre of the PA’s operations. The team plan, organise and execute the events as well as offering essential support and share their expertise for free.

This year we welcomed two new officers to the committee following the resignations of the treasurer and vice treasurer, as well as several new committee members. The other four officers were re-elected in their roles.

I am pleased to share, the events diary for the year was as packed as previous years but like last year we were again able to introduce new events, engaging more year groups.

At the start of the school term the PA hosted the Alpha Beta Magic show for the prep children in September followed by the sold out PA Ball event in October 2023.

In November we held our ever popular family oriented PA Fireworks night that was again attended by over 1000 people. December 2023, the PA hosted a Removes (year 8) disco and we finished the term in style by hosting our festive Prep Christmas Pantomime.

The PA jumped into the Spring term with a brand new event for parents, the Salsa night closely followed by the yearly Spring Fayre. The Prep 1 fun night hosted by the PA thoroughly enjoyed by our year 5 pupils. Family Camping weekend was again a roaring success, even bigger and better than the previous year. The sportsmanship by the children and parents at the Prep sports day and Parents V Teachers Cricket Match made these events enjoyable and entertaining for participants and spectators alike.

New additions to 2023-2024 included the PA Ball, Salsa and our ‘Being Bancroft’s’ Festival, which were all a fantastic success.

Every year the PA makes a contribution to events organised by the school and children. The PA contributed to the Removes Bowling Trip following the successful completion of their Lions Diplomas. We remain committed to our regular contributions to the leavers Proms for U6(Y13) Prom, Fifth Form (Y11) and Prep 2 (Y6) as they transition to the next phase in their academic journey.

I would like to extend a special thank you to the PA officers, and members, for their continued support and cooperation. I would also like to thank both the Heads, Mr Marshall and Mr Layburn, as well as the school staff for their kind assistance, without which none of this would be possible.

We are looking forward to the continued collaboration between current and new PA members and staff to bring better and bigger experiences for years to come for the whole Bancroft’s community.
