Structure and Objects of the Charity
The Charity is an unincorporated organisation formed under a constitution adopted on 18[th] November 1999. The Charity is run by a Committee of volunteers who are elected at the Annual General Meeting. All trustees are appointed by the Committee and serve on a voluntary basis.
The object of the Charity is to advance the education of the pupils of Bonneville Primary School in Clapham. Specifically, the Charity aims to:
-
develop extended relationships between the staff, parents and carers, and others associated with the school,
-
engage in activities which support the school and advance the education of the pupils attending it,
-
provide and assist in the provision of such facilities or items for education at the school (not provided from statutory funds) as the trustees, in consultation with the School governing body, deem appropriate.
Review of 2019-20 Activities
During 2019-20, the Charity organised a range of fundraising events raising gross income of £15,170 (2018-19: £13,956) with costs of £4,151 (2018-19: £3,081) generating a surplus of £11,019 (2018-19: £10,875). Events were curtailed from March 2020 due to the Covid pandemic, which reduced the Charity’s event income, including most notably the absence of the summer fair which raised almost £4,000 in 2018-19. However, the overall revenue and surplus are in line with the full prior year, demonstrating a growth in the Charity’s overall level of activity during the year.
In addition, the charity received £17,236 (2018-19: £8,348) in donations including £2,529 (2018-19: £106) of Gift Aid, which the charity successfully registered for in 2018. Donations in the year were boosted by the Covid pandemic, with a crowdfunder appeal organised by key workers whose children remained in the school during the national lock-down raising a total of £8,202.
A total of £18,844 (2018-19: £8,408) was spent during the year to support the school. Support incurred included £18,174 (2018-19: £4,470) towards the cost of preparing a planning application for upgrades to the school facilities and £670 (2018-19: £50) to support immediate improvements to the school premises. Support for external trips for the pupils attending the school was curtailed in the year (2018-19: £3,809) due to the Covid pandemic, with the majority of such trips usually taking place in the summer term.
