PTA Chair’s Annual Report 2024/25

Welcome to this year’s AGM. In my annual report I will look back on the past year and share our plans for the year ahead.

We’ve had a truly fantastic year of fundraising, with a wide range of brilliant events that together raised over £21,000 . This brings our five-year total to more than £110,000 – an extraordinary achievement that has gone directly towards enriching our children’s experience at school.

A heartfelt thank you goes to all the organisers, volunteers, parents, and teachers who gave their time and energy to support the PTA. None of this would have been possible without you.

We are currently seeking a Treasurer, Secretary, Head of Events, and Co-Chair , as well as more volunteers more broadly. Whether you can spare a little time or a lot, your contribution makes a real difference.

Review of 2024/25 school year

Autumn Term

We began the year with the inaugural Autumn Party at Old Reigatians Rugby Club – a fantastic evening with live music, a DJ, food trucks, bar, and raffle. A great success, the night raised significant funds and will return in future, though likely back in its originally planned summer slot.

Next came our much-loved Fireworks Night show. Catering proved a challenge (cooking sausages in St Mary’s was memorable!) and the bar sold out quickly. With RGS now approved to build its new sports hall, this may sadly have been one of our final fireworks at the school – an event that has become a highlight for families in Reigate.

December brought a packed Christmas season : the Elves’ Workshop Wonderland Fair (with a hugely popular Grotto), Christmas tree sales, wreath making, the Christmas raffle, personalised cards, and the new Christmas Trail.

Spring Term

We kicked off 2025 with the Quiz Night in February – a sell-out success thanks to Mr Murtagh’s quizmaster skills (and some emergency wine runs!). A big thank-you as well to the parents who stayed behind to help tidy up, making sure everyone was able to head home before midnight.

The Spring Disco continues to be popular with the children, while the Mother’s Day bracelet sale was another great money raiser.

Summer Term

Our “Surf’s Up” Summer Fair was a brilliant day, with over 500 tickets sold and new attractions such as the surf machine which proved popular with children and adults alike. We planned for rain and were fortunate that it stayed dry for most of the afternoon. Catering was made easier this year thanks to the use of the school canteen.

That said, we did face challenges with volunteer numbers and donations, and after much consideration, we’ve decided to pause the fair for 2026 (and possibly beyond).

Other summer highlights included the raffle , support for the Year 6 leavers’ celebrations , drinks donations to the post Ofsted and end of year Staff celebrations, and the PTA’s end-of-year social at the Venture Inn.

Ongoing Events

Throughout the year we also ran:

Objectives of the PTA

to provide some more information on the PTA.

The PTA exists to:

On average we raise £20–25k per year , which is allocated by the school across year groups and projects. All parents, carers, grandparents, teachers, and pupils are automatically members of the PTA, and anyone can get involved – from volunteering at events to joining the committee.

PTA committee

We have an elected committee of Trustees who manage all aspects of the PTA. These positions are crucial and again are on a voluntary basis. The current committee comprises:

Chair: Sam Woodward

Co-Chair: Vacant

Secretary: Vacant

Treasurer: Vacant

Head of Events: Vacant

Event Organisers: Jess Childs, Leanne Williams, Aimee Gladish

Uniform Coordinators: Gill Reid, Jennifer Kennedy, Joanna Goddard

Website Coordinator: Sam Woodward

We currently have four key vacancies: Co-Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, and Head of Events . These roles are vital to keeping the PTA thriving, but also flexible – you can shape them around your availability and interests.

Looking Ahead to 2025/26

Based on feedback and experience, here are our key priorities:

For the coming term, we have the Fireworks Display (possibly for the last time) and the Christmas Fair , alongside regular events such as cake sales and film nights.

Looking further ahead, we plan to have the Summer Soirée in place of the Summer Fair, and trial new events to keep things fresh, inclusive, and fun.

Thank you again to everyone who has given their time, energy, or support this year. Together, we make a real difference to the school and our children’s experience.

Sam Woodward, PTA Chair
