| SORP reference | ||
|---|---|---|
| Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. |
Para 1.20 | Tenerife Family Church (TFC) continued to offer spiritual and practical support to all nationalities, both residents and visitors to Tenerife, seeking to advance the Christian Faith in practical ways through actions which attempt to bring relief to persons in conditions of need or hardship. Addressing both Spiritual & Material hardships exacerbated by fear of the future and the lack of employment, with many establishments having to close due to Covid-19. Specifically Christian spiritual support through regular live and pre-recorded services, Christian Biblical Words of support, and encouragement through events on local radio and YouTube. A Christmas Carol Service was held having been widely advertised. The ‘House of Hope’ rehabilitation facility provided accommodation, Material and Spiritual support to individuals recovering and being rehabilitated post substance dependencies. The facilities of funeral services, conducted on a purely voluntary payment basis continued throughout the year, as did the support for the bereaved families. Material support of wider local society in serious need through provision of food |
and other essential items, mainly donated by church attendees. Although the Living Room, as a centre for support of those working in the Holiday and Leisure sector on the island, was closed for part of the year, volunteers continued activities outside of the building. Typical support was Material & Spiritual support of Reps losing jobs, feeling suicidal, helping UK workers return to the UK, and general befriending those in despair and desperate situations. Hospital visiting of English speaking patients was somewhat disrupted by the Covid-19 restrictions, but took place on a limited basis. Counselling of distressed/abused Women was able to continue and supported women practically, spiritually and emotionally, including supporting into the Spanish Government Benefit & Support System for these women and others. Community Support (CS)Work was found within the Church and performed by those offenders having been given CS orders by the Spanish Justice System.

Independent Examiner's Report to the Trustees of Tenerife Family Church For the year ended 31st December 2021
The trustees of Tenerife Family Church for the purpose of company law, are responsible for preparing the Trustees Report and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice).
Company Law requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and of the incoming resources and application of resources, including the income and expenditure, of the charitable company for that year.
In preparing these financial statements, the trustees are required to:
-
select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently;
-
observe the methods and principles in the Charities SORP;
-
make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent; and
-
prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in operation.
The trustees are responsible for keeping adequate accounting records that disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

Independent Examiner's Report to the Trustees of Tenerife Family Church
I report to the trustees on my examination of the financial statements of Tenerife Family Church (the charity) for the year ended 31st December 2021.
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the trustees of the charity you are responsible for the preparation of the financial statements in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act).
I report in respect of my examination of the charity’s financial statements carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act. In carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act.
Independent examiner's statement
Your attention is drawn to the fact that the charity has prepared financial statements in accordance with Accounting and Reporting by Charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) in preference to the Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice issued on 1 April 2005 which is referred to in the extant regulations but has now been withdrawn.
I understand that this has been done in order for financial statements to provide a true and fair view in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Practice effective for reporting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2015.
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:
-
1 accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the 2011 Act; or
-
2 the financial statements do not accord with those records; or
3 the financial statements do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the financial statements to be reached.
