This is not ihe ban that many of us have been calling for, and in particular thar6 arè concèrns about definitions of terms and breeding, but 11 the Guidance is suff icienlly rigorous, the new regulations could have a meaningful and positive Impact on primale welfare. However, there are lingering questions, such as how do we resolve the polenllally huge problem ol rehoming those primatos whose w811ar8 conditions do nol meet these new licensing standards. The chango in Gov8rnmant after the general 81eclion prompt8d the samg group of concemed organisatlons who sSgned Ihe original letter, to write again In the hope that as Labour, in Opposition, had supported a complete ban, there mSghl now be a chance to strengthen thelgglslallon.
