WCWAID estab115hed in 1987 by a group of women In the community who initially ran a helpline in Penzance. A need for somewhere safe tor women to flee to Wès Identlhed, and In 1992 WCWAID acqvlred and opened the htst refuge bulldSng. A secontl refuge property wa5 acquSred In 1995. WCWAID ran accommDtfate up to 11 women and 16 ¢hil¢ren within its refuge provlslon, whlch & a VK-wlde resource. The Communlty serv1￿$ Project was established in 2001 to support women and children Ilvin9 in West Cornwall and the Isle5 of Scllly whose Ilves have been affected by DASV. WCWAID provide5 Helpline.
