AGE UK DACORUM IA company Ilmlted by guarantee) INDEPENDENT AUDITOR'S REPORT TO THE MEMBERS OF AGE UK DACORUM ICONTINUED) Audltorfs responslbllltles for the audlt of the flnancial statements Our objectives are lo obtain reasonable assurance abDuI whether the financial slalements as a whole are free from material mi5slalemenl, whether due lo fraud or error. and to issue an Audilorfs report that includes our opinlon. Reasonable assurance is a high level of assuranee, but is not a gu8r8ntee that an audll conducted in accordance with ISAS IUKI will always delecl a material mlsslalemenl when il exlsts. Misstatements can arise from fraud or error and are consldered mateiial If. individually or in the aggregate, they could reasonably be expected lo influence the economic decisions of users taken on the basis of these financial slalemenls. Irregularltles, including fraud, are instanS of non-compllance with laws 8nd regulatlons. We deslgn procedures in line with our responsibilities, outlined above, lo delecl material misslalemenls in respect of irregularib'es, including fraud. The extent lo which our procedijres are capable of delecling irregularities, including fraud is detailed below.. the nature of the industry and sector. control environrnent and business performance including the remuneration incentives and pressures of key management., the prlmary responsSbillly for the prevenllon and detection of fraud rests with both those chaTged with governance of the entity and management. We consider the results of c>ur enquiries of management aboul their own idenllficalion and assessment of the risks of irregularities., any matters we identified having obtained and reviewed the Company's documentation of Ihoir policies and procedures relating to., idenlifsqng. evaluating and complying with laws and regulations and whether they were aware of any Instances of nDn-compliance', detecting and responding to the risks of fraud and whether they have knowledge DI any actual, suspected or alleged fraud., the internal controls established lo miligale risks of fraud or non-compliance with laws and rtrgulations., the matters discussed among the audit engagement team regarding how and where fraud mlghl occur in the financial ststemenls and any polenlial indicators of frauLt. A5 a result of these pmcedures, we ¢onsid#red the oppoilunilies and incentives that rnay exist within the organisation for fraud and identified the greatest potential for fraud. In comrnon with all audits under ISAS IUK), we are also required to perform specific procedures to respond to the risk of managomenl override, including testing journals and evalualing whether there was evldence of bias by the dlreclors that represented a risk of material misstalemenl due lo fraucj. We also obtained an underslandSng of the legal and regulatory frameworks that the Company operates in, focusing on provisions of those laws and regulations that ha($ a dire¢t effe¢l on tho delerminalion of material amounts and disclosures in the financial statements. We focused on laws and regulations that could give rise to 8 rnateTlal mlsstalement in the financlal statement5, includSng, but not limited to, the Companies Acl 2006 and relevant tsx legis181ion. Because of the inherent limitslions of an audit, there is a risk that we will not delecl all irregularities, including those leading to a material mi5slatem&nl in the financial slalemenls or non-compliance with regulation. This risk Increases the more that compliance with a law or regulation is removed from tho evenls and Ir8nsaclions reflected in the fin8ncial slalements. as we will be less likely to become aware of instanS of non-compliance. The rlsk is also greater regarding irregularities occurring due lo fraud rether than ermr, as fraud involves intentional concealment, forgery, collusion, omission or misrepresentation.
