EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE (BOT) PRESENT THEIR ANNUAL REPORT AND THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 SEPTEMBER 2021

1. INTRODUCTION

The Executive committee of SICC present their annual report and the financial statements of the organisation for the year ended 30 September 2021

2. PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES:

The principal activities of the charity are that of the advancement of the Islamic religion among the local community, providing facilities for offering daily and weekly prayer and also Islamic and cultural education for children.

3. ACHIEVEMENTS:

On Fridays, more than 125 people of the area take part in the weekly prayer. On other days of the week, approximately 10 people perform their regular prayers. During Ramadan, "Tarawi prayer" is offered and hundreds of Muslims come here for Eid prayer. Currently about 30 children are studying at the religious teaching class, at weekends.

A qualified Imam (religious teacher) has been employed, to lead the prayers and teach the children as well as adults.

4. CHARITABLE STATUS

The organisation was first registered with the Charity Commission on 23 April 2003 with charity number 1097179, having the above objectives. The income of the Centre is exempted from paying tax on its income.

Accounting policies & convention.

(a) Basis of accounting

The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention and are in accordance with the applicable accounting standards.

(b) Donations, Legacies and other similar incoming resources

Donations, legacies and similar incoming resources are included in the year in which they are receivable, which is when the charity becomes entiltled to the resources.

It has been the policy of the charity, not to take any interest for the money deposited into the bank account as it is not permissable by the Islamic religion. It had already been agreed with the bank.

c. All expenditure is included on as accruals basis and is recognised where there is a legal or constructive obligation to pay for expenditure. All costs have been directly attributed to one of the functional categories of resources expended in the SOFA. The charity is not registered for VAT and accordingly expenditure is shown gross of irrecoverable VAT.

A2a. Payments for generating funds.

As explained in the Trustees Report, the main activities of the charity during the year were providing daily and weekly prayer facilities to the Muslim community of the area and also providing religious education facilities to their children. These expense incurred inorder to provide the above mentioned facilities.
