Achievements and Performance during the year

The opportunities for fundraising during the year were somewhat limited due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the club made exceptional efforts to continue supporting charities whenever possible through various events.

The Ashby Santa Sleigh Collection is an event organised in partnership with the other two Rotary Clubs in Ashby de la Zouch. The way in which we were able to operate the collection in December 2020 was amended to meet the COVID-19 restrictions which resulted in a reduced income. However, we were able to donate £3840 to the local charity, Phoenix Children’s Foundation, from our share of the proceeds, to help fund their good work

The 6[th] Annual Ashby Santa Fun Run organised by the club was cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was replaced by the Ashby Santa Family Fun Workout. This resulted in the club being able to make a donate of £2400 to Ashby Foodbank.

Other donations were made to home based and international charities.

We also undertook work on improving the environment in Ashby and in particular the provision of labour and materials for the enhancement of an area close to the town centre, by converting a neglected part to grassland with defined paths giving access to the local comprehensive school.

We were also involved in weekly litter picks in the Ashby area and the maintenance of gardens and our own Peace Garden in the town centre.
