Structure, Governance and Management

Governance:

Organisation Structure:

In accordance with the constitution, executive authority is invested fully with the Management Committee. From this group of people, they appoint among themselves a Chairman, Deputy Chairman, Secretary & Treasurer (‘the executive’). The Organisation has a Life President whose main role is to be an Organisation ambassador, to promote the Organisation at any time which is deemed appropriate.

Day to Day Management of the Organisation:

The day-to-day management of The Meridale Centre is invested in the Centre Management Team by the Trustees of the Meridale Organisation. The Centre Management Team is made up of the Senior Centre Manager, Centre Manager and Deputy Centre Manager. They work and make decisions together for the benefit of Meridale. They also have the authority to make decisions alone should it be in the best interest of Meridale on day-to-day matters which may require an immediate response.

Outside Relationships:

The board of trustees continually strives to build relationships with outside bodies. Over the years, Meridale has created great working relationships which include Sutton on Sea Women’s Institute, Sutton on Sea Horticultural Society, Lincolnshire Police and County, District and Town Councils. It is the vision of the Organisation to continually promote Meridale and work with all sectors of the local and wider community.

Objectives

The Organisation’s objectives are (as taken from the constitution):

To promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Sutton on Sea and the neighborhood thereof (hereinafter called ‘the area of benefit’) without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race or of political, religious or other opinions, by associating together the said inhabitants and the local authorities, voluntary and other organisations in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and other leisure-time occupations with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants.

Main Achievements during the Year

Over the 12 month period (01.04.2021 - 31.03.2022):

The Meridale Centre managed to fully re-open after the Covid 19 pandemic restoring a much appreciated meeting space for the groups and clubs of the Sutton area. The Centre organised the 8[th] Lets Celebrate Sutton which was an opportunity for all user groups and clubs in the area to advertise what they do, along with some groups performing in the courtyard to gain new members and reconnect with new takers of hobbies they started over lockdown.

Main Activities & Performance

Meridale Kidz Klub is open during term time only on a Tuesday evening and caters for primary school children aged 6 and over. All volunteers are DBS checked.

Other groups to use the facilities include:

Meridale has been fortunate to secure funding for quality printing equipment. This service is offered to local community groups and small businesses with the opportunity to have design and print work produced. All money raised from this service is fed back into general funds.

- Financial Review 2021 2022

Reserves policy:

Currently, The Meridale Organisation does not have a Reserves Policy. As a small concern and at the present time, such a policy is felt not to be a necessity.

Material funds in deficit:

There are no funds in deficit at the time of printing this document.

Principal source of funding:

Meridale seeks grants from established funding bodies, run self funding events and receives donations from several local sources.

How expenditure supports the key objectives of The Meridale Organisation:

The expenditure is necessary to enable the trustees to maintain the Hall and its facilities to the highest degree which in turn continues to attract a significant number of organisations from the local and wider community who have come to expect the very best in venue hire.
